Will Yellowjackets season 4 be the final season?
Yes! On October 10, 2025, it was officially announced that Yellowjackets season 4 will be the show's final season. The show, which has been renewed back in May, a month after the season 3 finale, will wrap up all its plot points with one last season.
Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, the series' creators and showrunners, announced the news themselves on the Yellowjackets social media channels with a statement.
“After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season,” the statement reads. “We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen. Telling this emotional, wild, and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience and a true honor for us, and we’re so very grateful to the brilliant cast, crew and writers who have bravely gone on the journey with us to bring it to life. Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery and meal — the Hive is nothing without you! We can’t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it … delicious.”

When will Yellowjackets season 4 come out?
While Showtime is yet to announce a release date for Yellowjackets season 4, the final season is expected to arrive by late 2026. Per Deadline, the writers room for season 4 is up and running as of October 2025 and production for the show is slated to begin in 2026.
What will Yellowjackets season 4 be about?
Speaking to Teen Vogue, showrunner Ashley Lyle teased that season 4 will likely focus on “the story of them attempting to reintegrate into society post-rescue,” which is something they have been eyeing “from the conception of the show.” Lyle added: “I think that's really right, juicy stuff. And if we're given the opportunity to tell it, we're going to be really excited to dig in.”
Bart Nickerson also added the show will, of course, continue “to explore the relationships, particularly in the present day, for Taissa, Shauna. And honestly, how Misty is able to continue to insert herself-slash-take advantage of discord will always be one of my favorite things.”
Who's in the cast of Yellowjackets season 4?
Season 3 of Yellowjackets starred Samantha Hanratty as teenage Misty, Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse as adult and teenage Shauna, Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown as adult and teenage Taissa, Simone Kessell and Courtney Eaton as adult and teenage Lottie, Lauren Ambrose and Liv Hewson as adult and teenage Van, Kevin Alves as teenage Travis, Alexa Barajas as teen Mari, Steven Krueger as Coach Ben, Elijah Wood as Walter, as well as Hilary Swank as Melissa and Joel McHale as Kodiak.
Juliette Lewis, whose character Natalie was, well, accidentally killed, during the season 2 finale did not return for season 3. That said, Sophie Thatcher still reprised her role as teenage Natalie for Yellowjackets season 3.
Seeing Coach Ben, Mari, adult Lottie, and adult Van all died in season 3, it's likely that Steven Krueger, Alexa Barajas, Simone Kessell, and Lauren Ambrose will not return for season 4. However, flashbacks and visions are always an option.
