Have you ever wondered why Tom Holland and Zendaya don't make more red carpet appearances together?

The coworkers-turned-friends-turned-lovers have one of the most charming love stories in Hollywood, and based on paparazzi pictures and the way they constantly bring each other up in interviews, they're inseparable. But even as one of the most famous couples in the world, Tomdaya has a strong reputation for being low-key.

Now, Tom Holland is opening up about why he chooses to avoid doing red carpet appearances with his girlfriend Zendaya, the red carpet queen herself.

Holland is the first Men's Health cover star of 2025, and in his cover story he candidly discussed his sobriety journey, his new line of non-alcoholic beers, and his health regimens, both mental and physical. A large part of caring for his mental health comes from avoiding the public eye. Holland has been known to take large chunks of time away from social media and avoids many public events.

While speaking to Men's Health, Holland said going to the theater for a weekend matinee, per se, isn't a casual outing. “It’s booked in advance, we sort it all out, we call ahead to the theater and make sure we can get somewhere private,” he monotonously told the outlet, adding that he occasionally runs to the supermarket but won't go places more public, like the hotel lounge they conduct their interview in. (Holland is uncomfortably spotted by a handful of people throughout the story.)

But even the overwhelming attention that comes with fame cannot stop him from being a good boyfriend — the exception to his rule will always be Zendaya, who he affectionately calls “my lady.” He attends each of her premieres, but intentionally chooses not to walk the red carpet alongside her. “Because it’s not my moment, it’s her moment,” Holland explained. “And if we go together, it’s about us.”

To this day, Tom Holland and Zendaya have only officially walked the red carpet together a total of five times: twice for Spider-Man: No Way Home, once for Spider-Man: Far From Home, and twice for Spider-Man: Homecoming, the three Marvel franchise films they both star in. This means the next time they walk the red carpet together will likely be in 2026 for their joint projects, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and Spider-Man 4.

It doesn't seem like we'll be getting a Met Gala debut from the couple any time soon, folks. But let's be grateful for any and all of Holland's public appearances while we get ‘em, okay? The Crowded Room actor told Men’s Health that he's quitting Hollywood as soon as he starts a family. “When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore," he said happily. “Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.” Tomdaya 4-Ever!
