Why Taylor Swift Won't Be Attending Grammys 2026

And why The Life of a Showgirl didn't snag a nomination this year.

Taylor Swift is an awards show staple at this point, especially at the Grammys, where she's typically nominated for multiple honors (she's been nominated for 58 Grammys and won 14). But don't expect Swift at Grammys 2026. Why? Well, it could be for a few reasons.

First, she's not nominated for any awards at Grammys 2026. This feels confusing at first, because she's released a steady stream of new music since 2020. But it's all about the timing: the gap between most recently nominated album, The Tortured Poets Department, and her newest album, The Life of a Showgirl, is just about one Grammys eligibility period. The 2026 Grammys only look at music that came out between August 31, 2024 and August 30, 2025. TLOAS came out on Oct. 3, 2025, so it's a safe bet that we'll see more from the record at next year's Grammys.

Second, Swift isn't a presenter nor is she a performer at this year's Grammys. Typically, A-list celebs don't go to the Grammys just to go, and it's safe to say she has other ways to spend her time. Planning a wedding perhaps?

Finally, it makes sense that she'd want to lie low, at least with the public, in the aftermath of the most recent bout of alleged messages between Swift and Blake Lively regarding It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni, with whom Lively is still embroiled in a legal battle.

“Taylor's happy, grounded and fully focused on her life with Travis,” an anonymous source told Entertainment Tonight about where Taylor Swift is at in this current moment. "Right now, she's prioritizing everything positive and exciting happening in her life."
