Stranger Things Finale to Get a Limited Theatrical Release, Netflix Confirms

The long-anticipated last chapter will premiere simultaneously on the streamer and in select theaters.

After much chatter, it's now official: the Stranger Things finale will be premiering in select theaters in the US and Canada, celebrating the conclusion of the hit Netflix series with a big bash.

As shared by Netflix, screenings for the Stranger Things finale will take place in over 350 theaters in the US and Canada. Screenings will start on December 31, 2025, at 5:00 pm PT to coincide with the time of the finale’s global premiere on Netflix. Screenings will run through January 1, 2026.

“We’re beyond excited that fans will have the chance to experience the final episode of Stranger Things in theaters — it’s something we’ve dreamed about for years, and we’re so grateful to Ted, Bela, and everyone at Netflix for making it happen," the Duffer Brothers said in a statement shared with Tudum. "Getting to see it on the big screen, with incredible sound, picture, and a room full of fans, feels like the perfect — dare we say bitchin’ — way to celebrate the end of this adventure.”

News of the finale's theatrical release arrives after days of speculation and inside chatter. Specific information on locations and fan events will be shared at a later date, Netflix has confirmed.

ICYMI: The long-anticipated fifth and final season of Stranger Things will premiere in three instalments. Volume 1, featuring the first four episodes, will hit the streamer on November 26. Volume 2, the next three episodes, will follow suit on December 25; with the big finale, which is reportedly two hours long, arriving on December 31 both theatrically and on streaming.
