Spring nail trends don't always have to be florals and pastels. In 2024, we're seeing a wide range of styles, far from your typical French mani with dotted pink flowers, gaining popularity for the spring season. Though there's no shame in a cute tried-and-true style like that, if you do happen to be looking for something new this year, you're in luck because we have just the article you were looking for.
Right on the tail of awards season, spring 2024 is slated to have ultra-glam nail trends. From sparkles to 3D add-ons, there's something for everyone, so you won't have to go to the nail salon without knowing what you want, for this spring season at least. Scroll on to see 11 of the hottest spring nail trends for 2024 — and be sure to revisit when you need to show your nail tech some inspo pics.
1. Chrome Details
You've probably already heard of and maybe even tried chrome nails, thanks to the likes of Hailey Bieber, Selena Gomez, and even BLACKPINK's Jennie. The style is getting a revamp for spring 2024. Instead of having the whole nail covered with chrome, try using chrome to make your nail art pop. For inspo, look to Never Have I Ever star Richa Moorjani, who opted for a neutral base with gold chrome designs, pictured above. Or, you can take notes from the celebrity nail artist behind the chrome craze, Zola Ganzorigt, who took Vanessa Hudgens's French manicure to the next level with metal accents.
2. Asymmetrical Manicures
Who said your hands have to match? Wearing different nail designs on each hand is trending, and spring is the perfect time to try it so that you can get in as many colors as you can. Megan Thee Stallion demonstrated the subtly chic way to take on this trend with her manicure inspired by Mean Girls. Unistella, the Korean nail salon that designs for stars like BLACKPINK, also showcased how to rock the trend in a cohesive way.
3. Cat Eye Nails
Cat eye nails give your typical sparkles an edge with a reflective look that changes in the light. We love a dynamic manicure! Lindsey Lohan opted for a simple cat eye manicure for her movie premiere, but there are also ways to level up the look. Celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik gave Charlize Theron cat eye nails for the Oscars 2024 and added some art on top. Or, if you want to make art out of the cat eye polish itself, you can try using a magnet to make hearts with the glitter like Ganzorigt. Camila Cabello also wore cat eye nails to the Vanity Fair Oscars Party 2024 and combined them with another major trend: 3D Gel nails.
4. 3D Gel
You've heard of regular gel nails, but get ready for 3D sculpting gel nails. Also with the help of Bachik, Camila Cabello wore a sparkly set adorned with 3D seashells. JT of City Girls also sported a seashell look before, so this look definitely has the celebrity stamp of approval. Megan Fox also dressed up a chrome set with 3D gel squiggly lines. However, if those aren't your thing, just look at Unistella, who has a plethora of 3D looks, including flowers and bows, for inspiration.
5. Pop of Color French Mani
Sometimes, you just can't beat the classic French mani, but if you’re looking to put a spring twist on it, opt for a pop of color. Just swap the white tips with your favorite hue. Jenna Ortega opted for black tips in the past, and more recently, celebrity nail artist Brittney Boyce has done this look a number of times, including Megan Fox’s studded red French tips.
6. Ombre French Mani
If you're not looking to venture too far out of your comfort zone and just want a twist on a classic look, try making your French manicure ombre like Vanessa Hudgens did at the Oscars 2024. It's a perfect “your nails but better” look, similar to milk nails, which brings us to…
7. Milk Mani
The milk nails trend is here to stay, at least for a little while longer. These sheer white shades give every look an elegant and chic finish, like Zendaya did at the Oscars. Margot Robbie also wore this look throughout her press tour, so it has the Barbie stamp of approval.
8. Baby Pink
Speaking of Barbie, we're seeing pink this season. Perhaps it's the lingering love for Barbie, Zendaya's Dune 2 press tour, or Saweetie's Oscars night manicure, but baby pink manicures, in particular, are rising on the trend list and definitely on our radar.
9. Ruby Red
If baby pink isn't your vibe, don't worry. We're also seeing a lot of ruby reds this season, maybe influenced by Gucci's Rosso. For inspiration, look at how Paloma Elsesser wore strawberry red jelly nails at the CFDA awards.
10. Hearts
Hearts aren't just for Valentine's Day. Just like bows did, hearts are having their moment this season. They already have Blue Ivy Carter's stamp of approval. We also spotted them on Fox, Dixie D'Amelio, and members of the K-pop girl group Purple Kiss.
11. Neutrals
While spring is typically associated with color, we're seeing a different pattern this year. Neutral nails are becoming a popular choice. BLACKPINK's Jisoo opted for a black manicure for Paris Fashion Week, proving that sometimes you can't beat a simple, classic look. Victoria Monet also opted for a neutral at the Grammys 2024, accentuating the brown shade with a chrome finish so her manicure matched her satin gown.
