When Scarlet Stallone stepped onto the runway at the Tommy Hilfiger Fall-Winter 2024 show during New York Fashion Week, it wasn't your average runway. Instead, the iconic New York restaurant the Grand Central Oyster Bar had been transformed into “The Tommy,” nestled right into Grand Central Terminal, featuring music by Questlove and Jon Batiste. Sofia Richie was there, and so was Gossip Girl matriarch and front row mainstay Kelly Rutherford. Oh, and did we mention it was Scarlet's first-ever runway show? NBD, right?
Stallone was ready for anything. “I was sure to study the runway at rehearsals. Once I found out we were walking in Grand Central Oyster Bar, I was more excited than nervous,” Stallone told Teen Vogue of her NYFW debut. “Honestly, my biggest fear was tripping down the runway or knocking over someone's drink. But the other models backstage gave the best pep talks.” According to Stallone, fellow model Paloma Elsesser gave her the best advice. “She told me to be myself and just have fun, which was easy advice to take because I don't take myself too seriously anyway,” the model explained.
Dressed in a pleated navy miniskirt with a matching navy peacoat, a striped shirt, knee-high snake print boots and a beanie, Stallone took on her first runway show with confidence. “The music was so fun to walk to and we were dancing and shaking off the nerves ahead of showtime.”
Stallone has been a fan of the legendary Tommy Hilfiger brand since her childhood. “I was a young girl obsessed with the Spring 2014 collection because I grew up as a tomboy infatuated with fashion," she told Teen Vogue. “I loved that the models were dolled up but in jerseys. No one was doing that, just Tommy!”
Walking in a Tommy Hilfiger show is a pretty big deal; some of the most famous models and celebrities of all time have taken their turn on the runway for the designer. Stallone shared that her approach to modeling is, “You either have it or you don't. It's truly like stepping into a new world,” she shared, adding that she literally said “Whatever” to herself before walking onto the runway.
In true Tommy Hilfiger fashion, the collection was all about Americana classics with a twist, like oversized trench coats and tweeds, miniskirts and slouchy trousers. Stallone loved her outfit. “It was tailored to me specifically … the vibe, everything down the custom made jacket to the baseball cap,” she said. However, they swapped the baseball cap for a beanie at the last minute. As for hair and makeup, models were fresh faced with just a touch of blush and lived-in hair.
It appears this is just the beginning for Stallone's modeling career; she's also done some acting. “I'm a theatre kid so after singing Broadway in college, I can do anything in front of a crowd," she shared. "I'm sure my personality showed up in my walk, it was so much fun.”
