Sabrina Carpenter surprised fans on Friday night with a sneak peek of an unreleased song off of her forthcoming album, Short n’ Sweet.
Carpenter took the stage at the Grammy Museum's Clive Davis Theater in Los Angeles on August 2 for a moderated discussion, performance, and a guest appearance by producer and collaborator Jack Antonoff. The stripped-down, intimate performance consisted of Carpenter sitting on a stool and singing some of her most popular songs with just a few instruments instead of her typical upbeat pop background. The singer was wearing a mid-length blue dress with her signature heart cutout detail and nude heels.
At one point during the performance, Carpenter decided it was time for fans to hear a new song from the album called “Slim Pickins," according to fan footage from the event.
“This one's cute and I just like, wanted to sing it for you today," Carpenter said. "Super random of me so it's called ‘Slim Pickins’ and I hope you like it.”

Carpenter also performed her hit songs “Espresso,” and “Please Please Please” during the set.
The rising pop star announced in early June that her sixth studio album Short n' Sweet would be released on August 23 followed by the Short n' Sweet Tour starting September 23. “This project is quite special to me and i hope it’ll be something special to you too,” Carpenter wrote on Instagram alongside the album announcement.
Fans are speculating about Sabrina Carpenter's love life after she posted a cryptic TikTok that read, “Me saying goodbye to him bc I wasn't his #1 streamed artist" with her song “Please Please Please” playing in the background. People immediately commented that they believed she and Barry Keoghan had broken up. While we can't confirm if the pair are still together, Carpenter's pinned post on Instagram is still a clip from the “Please Please Please” music video starring Keoghan — so take that with a grain of salt.
