When it comes to style, Rosalía is an icon in the making. The musician has one of the most enviable closets in the game and is never afraid of taking a big fashion risk, but not all of her red carpet moments have landed quite so beautifully.
In a new My Life in Looks episode for Vogue Spain, Rosalía opened up about one of her biggest fashion "fails," which occurred at the 2019 premiere of The Lion King. As soon as she turns the page to see the outfit in question, Rosalía shakes her head and sighs, "Where to begin?" As seen in the video, she wore a shiny black latex catsuit with enormous fur cuffs on the sleeves and pant legs. "Who wears latex to the premiere of a Disney children's film?" she remarks. "No one. But you learn from these things."
According to Rosalía, the combination was "terrible," and she's definitely not going to make the same mistake again. "The context was not the right one," she explains. "Overall, it was a huge fail." Her hairstyle, too, gets some criticism; she calls her pigtails "unnecessary, to say the least," but she did think her nails looked cute.
However, there is some background to the outfit; Rosalía explains that she was at a shoot when she was told she could go to the premiere — her first premiere! — and a stylist friend lent her the outfit for the occasion. All things considered, not even that bad, though admittedly, children premiere and latex is a very NSFW combo that should probably never even be uttered in the same sentence. But, hey, you live and you learn!
Overall, and as evidenced in the video, Rosalía has had many more hits than misses on her fashion list, including the pink bow-bedecked dress she wore for the Los40 Music Awards in 2019, which she calls "fantastic," and the custom black Miu Miu gown she donned to accept the Album of the Year Award at the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards. Of the super sheer cropped look she wore for the Billboard Women in Music event, which had some major underboob action, Rosalía simply says, "Why not?" And we agree.
