Since announcing her first pregnancy in early 2022, Rihanna has taken maternity style to the next level. Just as we suspected, the musician and style icon has done pregnancy fashion her way, whether that's with a bright red Loewe catsuit at the Super Bowl or a belly-baring jumpsuit in Paris. One of the star's favorite maternity looks, however, is all sheer all the time, and she just revisited the trend once again.
Rihanna, who's currently expecting her second child with partner A$AP Rocky, slipped into a completely sheer diamond pattern halter gown for a night out in Cannes, France with Rocky. The dress itself is pretty simple: an easy halter neckline, form-fitting silhouette, and full ankle length. But this wasn't your run-of-the-mill LBD — it was a knitted crochet style gown with plenty of peekaboo details, revealing the teeny bikini underneath.
The Fenty Beauty founder wore the dress with minimal accessories, only a silver necklace and simple sandals. She wore her hair pulled back and emphasized her lashes with what we're pretty sure is a few coats of Fenty Beauty's Hella Thicc Volumizing Mascara.
Sheer looks are a mainstay in Rihanna's wardrobe whether she's expecting or not. Most recently, the star stepped out in a sheer black Savage x Fenty slip dress while visiting Tokyo, but the most famous sheer moment is definitely the Dior dress she wore in Paris in spring 2022, just before she welcomed her son RZA. At the time, Rihanna told Vogue that she knew she wasn't going to stick to traditional maternity wear and that she had actually cut out the lace lining of said dress before slipping it over her bump.
"When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, 'There's no way I'm going to go shopping in no maternity aisle'. I'm sorry — it's too much fun to get dressed up. I'm not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing," she said at the time. For Rihanna, pregnancy is a time to embrace the amazing things your body can do. "I'm hoping that we were able to redefine what's considered 'decent' for pregnant women. My body is doing incredible things right now, and I'm not going to be ashamed of that. This time should feel celebratory. Because why should you be hiding your pregnancy?"
