Olivia Rodrigo is already getting to work as Lancôme’s newest ambassador. Just a month after being named the face of the brand, the singer-songwriter is starring in a campaign for two new lipstick shades for the French brand. And if they’re any indication of what’s to come in the world of makeup in 2025, bold lips are making a comeback.
In new campaign images for Lancôme, Olivia Rodrigo models two new hues of the L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte lipstick. For one shot, she’s against a bright pink backdrop and wearing a matching blush and mock neck top, with her sleek, long black hair draping over it. She’s got her signature cat-eye, but the focal point of the look is her lipstick. She wears shade 399, Haute en Pink. The next shot has a dark red backdrop, and Rodrigo wears a matching blush and leather dress to make her lipstick pop. It’s the shade 430, Plum Addiction.
Since more subtle or entirely clear lip glosses have been reigning beauty trends as of late, we can’t help but wonder if this marks a major turning point. After all, Rodrigo has been at the forefront of a number of trends — think Dr. Martens, graphic tees, and other grunge staples — since her career first sky-rocketed with the hit “Driver’s License.”
Rodrigo’s shades aren’t the only major news for L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte lipstick fans. There’s actually a total of 10 new shades. Plus, the formula has been upgraded for intense care, just in time for the winter and all the dryness it brings. It will now include ceramides, which are intended to lock the skin’s barrier. The brand also boasts that the cream-to-powder texture will go on smooth and last longer.
Though Rodrigo is fairly new to Lancôme, she’s already very involved. In fact, this isn’t her first foray into the brand’s lip products. Just a day before the big announcement, she shared a snap of the Juicy Tubes Original lip gloss she was using. (And it seems like that one is a Gen Z favorite, as Emma Chamberlain has called it her favorite go-to product as well.)
