If you need something to fill the Summer I Turned Pretty-sized hole in your heart, enter My Life With the Walter Boys season 2. Like TSITP, the Netflix series is a love triangle set in a charming small town — this time in Colorado. In the show, based on the YA novel of the same name by Ali Novak, 16-year-old named Jackie finds herself entangled with two brothers after moving to their family ranch from Manhattan.
When we last saw Jackie, Alex, and Cole — and the rest of the sprawling Walter clan — Jackie had decided to leave Silver Falls after both Alex and Cole revealed their feelings for her in two very different ways. Why did she go back to New York? Will she return to the Walter family ranch? Can everyone fix their broken relationships and get back to being one big happy family?
In the season 2 trailer, Jackie says, “I spent all summer spiraling about how and why I left,” in reference to her forbidden kiss with Cole. When she tells Walter family matriarch Katherine that she feels like “I don't belong anywhere anymore,” Katherine assures her her place is with the Walters. But how will that shake out with such complicated feelings involved?
This season, there are a handful of new faces amidst the already packed cast, including some who may come between Jackie and the Walter boys. We'll have to wait and see! Ahead, get a rundown of the cast behind Netflix's My Life With the Walter Boys as season 2 hits Netflix on Aug. 28.
Nikki Rodriguez plays Jackie Howard
Nikki Rodriguez stars as Jackie, a teenager who grew up in Manhattan but moves to Silver Falls, Colorado, after her parents die in an accident. She is taken in by Katherine Walter, her mom's best friend, and becomes part of the huge Walter family… a family made up of mostly boys. She quickly finds herself torn between Alex and Cole.
“With Alex, he's so kind and loving and makes her feel safe in this new place where she doesn't feel like she belongs,” Rodriguez told Teen Vogue. “With Cole, he challenges her and he's passionate — and a little bit like the person you feel you shouldn't really love, so there's always that. They're very different, but it's so layered, and that's why I think it's a hard choice for Jackie. It's complicated.”
Rodriguez is from Los Angeles and appeared in a handful of projects before My Life With the Walter Boys, including her first big role in Netflix's On My Block.
The Walter Family
One of the brothers Jackie finds herself caught between is Alex, played by Ashby Gentry. Prior to landing the role of Alex, Gentry played a few small roles, including one episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Alex has gone through a pretty major change as season two begins, becoming more confident and popular and leaving his shy, introspective self behind. “I sometimes miss season 1 Alex because it does feel a little bit like he's gone. The new person there, I like parts of him and I don't like parts of him — just like I liked parts of the first one and didn't like parts of the second one,” Gentry told Teen Vogue. “I'm a little worried for fans of Alex because he is not the same person anymore. That Alex from season 1 is not coming back. So it'll be interesting.”
If we had to compare the Walter brothers to the Fishers, second-oldest sibling Cole would definitely be the Conrad: brooding, moody, a little tortured. Cole is played by actor Noah LaLonde, who grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and has acted in a few small projects, including a role on the popular TV series Criminal Minds.
LaLonde has some advice for his character in season two. “I would tell [Cole] to look around and stop waging a war with himself. Trust the people around him,” he shared. “He's got this huge family of people who care about him. He has a lot of intangible abilities that maybe he hasn't figured out how to apply in the real world, that he developed playing football and being in athletics. [He should] trust that he's capable.”
When Jackie's parents tragically die, she goes to live with her mom's best friend, Katherine Walter, and her family in Colorado. Katherine, a doctor and mother of ten children, is played by Sarah Rafferty, who has been acting for decades. Her biggest role was as Donna Paulsen on the legal drama Suits, and she's also appeared on Chicago Med and Grey's Anatomy.
Blucas, who is best known for his role as Buffy's boyfriend Riley in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, plays the kind-hearted patriarch George Walter. Blucas has a stacked resumé, including a handful of holiday movies, a long-running role on the show Underground, and acting opposite Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in the 2010 movie Knight & Day.
Will is the eldest Walter child and is played by actor Johnny Link, who, like his character, is hard of hearing. At the end of season one, Will tied the knot with his girlfriend Hayley. My Life With the Walter Boys is his first major role.
Corey Fogelmanis plays Nathan, another Walter sibling, who grows close to Jackie and is in a relationship with Skylar. Fogelmanis previously appeared on Girl Meets World and in the movies Ma and the forthcoming Tommy Dorman film I Wish You All the Best.
Danny is Cole's twin brother and becomes close with Jackie; at the end of season one, he was heading to Juilliard. Prior to Walter Boys, Stanhope appeared on a few episodes of the popular Hallmark series When Calls the Heart.
We told you there were a lot of Walter kids! Dean Petriw was cast as Jordan, the filmographer Walter. Petriw has been acting since he was a child and has a bunch of credits to his name, including an episode of Once Upon a Time, a cameo in Sonic the Hedgehog, and voiceover work for the show Pffirates.
Imagine being the only daughter in a family of nine boys! That's Parker's reality. She's played by Alix West Lefler, whom you may have briefly spotted in Riverdale; she nabbed the role of Betty's niece Juniper. West Lefler has also acted in the TV series Resident Alien, where she played Eleanor.
The youngest Walter child, Benny, is played by Lennix James. James only has a few roles under his belt so far, but one of them is young Clark Kent on Superman & Lois, which is pretty cool!
The Walters have a full house, to say the very least. In addition to Jackie, they also took in George's sister's sons, Isaac and Lee. Isaac is played by Isaac Arellanes, who starred as Ruben on the TV reboot of Ghostwriter, as well as held small roles on Euphoria, Reservation Dogs, and Law & Order: Organized Crime.
While his brother plays football, Isaac's sibling Lee is the skater of the family. He's played by Myles Vincent Perez, who has more than a decade of credits to his name, including dancing on Lip Sync Battle and appearing as Mario in The Curse of Bridge Hollow.
Hayley is Will's wife, and the two got married at the end of season one. Zoë Soul, who plays Hayley, has been acting for more than a decade, including a four-year stint on the TV series Reed Between the Lines.
Close Friends
Scottish actor Ellie O'Brien plays Grace, who quickly becomes close with Jackie when she moves from New York City to Colorado. O'Brien has appeared in a few Netflix shows, including Grand Army, as well as the TV series Ascension.
Skylar becomes one of Jackie's best friends in season one and begins dating Nathan Walter. Jaylan Evans, who plays Skylar, has acted in several smaller projects, including the children's animated series Spirit Rangers.
Mya Lowe plays Kiley, Alex's friend who has feelings for him; however, Alex doesn't share those feelings and “friend zones” her. You may have seen Lowe before, as she's appeared in lots of different projects, including the Charmed reboot, Yellowjackets, and Murder in a Small Town.
Erin is a popular student and Cole's frequent love interest. She is played by Alisha Newton, whose biggest role was as Georgie on the Canadian series Heartland, which ran from 2012 to 2023. Like her Walter Boys costar Mya Lowe, Newton also acted in Murder in a Small Town.
Walter Boys Season 2 new characters
Natalie Sharp joins the cast as a rodeo star named B. Hartford. She has a plethora of TV credits under her belt, including a role in the Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot BH90210.
Riele Downs will play Maria, a new classmate of Alex's. Downs has been acting for nearly 20 years and major credits include lending her voice to the character of Charlotte in Henry Danger Motion Comic and The Adventures of Kid Danger, as well as roles in Nickelodeon specials.
Actor Carson MacCormac is set to play a character named Zach, who finds himself drawn to Nathan. He appeared on the series Locke & Key and in the movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Jake Manley joins the cast as a bronc rider named Wylder Holt. He's held a variety of roles, including a regular gig as Jack on the TV series The Order.
Actor Janet Kidder, who has acted in projects like The Man in the High Castle, joins the season 2 cast as Joanne, Grace's mom and Katherine's friend.
