Miley Cyrus is fully on board with Chappell Roan asserting her boundaries. Whether calling out photographers, turning off comments to protect her peace, or addressing fans directly in video form, Roan is never afraid to speak up, which made Cyrus want to check in with her to show her support.

In a cover story interview with Harpers Bazaar, Cyrus got candid about navigating her own fame and opened up about reaching out to Roan earlier this year after a series of videos posted to TikTok started going viral.

"I wish people would not give her a hard time," Cyrus said of Roan, admitting fame has gotten overly more complicated with social media thrown in the mix.

"It's probably really hard coming into this business with phones and Instagram," Cyrus continued. "That wasn't always a part of my life, and I'm not a part of it now. I don't even have my Instagram password."

Earlier this year, Roan opened up about receiving support from fellow stars after she started to call out fans for crossing the line. "The past couple of weeks have been cuckoo, but what's so reassuring and so f*cking sick is, the pop girls that you and I have loved our whole lives or have been f*cking stans [of] the past two or three years, a lot of them have reached out and are so supportive and girl's girls," she told Drew Afualo in an episode of The Comment Section podcast, where she also called out stalker fans.

"To have people I look up to reach out and offer like a friend or help, I don't know, it's just sick, and it makes me believe in the world," Roan continued. In the same interview, Roan revealed Cyrus has actually reached out to her to invite her to a party. "Miley invited me to a party, and I was like, 'You don't know that you were my first concert when the Jonas Brothers were opening for you,'" she recounted at the time.

Speaking to Rolling Stone later, Roan namechecked some of the people that reached out to her, which included Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Hayley Williams, Katy Perry, the boygenius trio, Orville Peck, Troye Sivan, Noah Kahan, and Elton John, among others.

When Cyrus became the youngest star to become a Disney Legend earlier this year, Roan reciprocated the love for the star in a tribute video shown before her induction. "One thing I admire about Miley Cyrus is she constantly reinvents herself, and it always works," Roan said of the star. "She's really open about her transformations artistically and personally. I think she is so true to herself."

Roan also opened up about Cyrus being one of her main inspirations and the first concert she ever went to. "She came down in a box from the ceiling. I was like, 'How do I do that one day?' I still think about it. I still think about the show. And I want to be like Hannah Montana. To this day."

"There's a lot of crossover between Miley and my project," Roan continued. “She's got the whole world around her that supports her. She could do anything, and I think that's something that I want to incorporate in my project. Miley does any type of thing, and it works, and I want to able to feel that freedom. I think Miley feels like freedom to me.”
