Over the years, the Olsen twins’ signature style has become the stuff of legend. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's are known for their fresh, clean skin, full brows, simple "no makeup" makeup, and, of course, their trademark tousled, undone waves.

If you’ve been a fan of the sisters for a while, you’d know they have been rocking said waves for years, showing up on red carpets and at events with their hair looking just "so." Now their hairstylist is sharing the two products he uses to give them their covetable style because admit it, you've been pinning their pics and trying to replicate said waves since New York Minute — I know I have!

MK and A's longtime stylist, Mark Townsend, recently spilled his secrets to creating their tousled waves with The Zoe Report, taking a trip down memory lane and revisiting some of their best Met Gala moments. For the most part, the twins hit up the red carpet in interesting vintage pieces from legendary fashion houses like Chanel and Dior, but their hair is generally perfectly imperfect in long, loose waves.

According to Mark, all he uses on their hair is saltwater and dry shampoo. "Style-wise, all we ever use is saltwater and dry shampoo on their hair," he said, adding that sometimes he uses an entire bottle of saltwater on one style.

He also revealed that Mary-Kate has some feelings about using hairpins. "Mary-Kate has a very strict rule that I'm only allowed to use five hairpins or less for an updo because she feels if we need more than five we've thought about it too much and it's too done." However, Mark added, when he styles them for the Met Gala, that rule goes out the window. (Mark also revealed that the twins dress themselves for the gala and do most of their shopping at the vintage boutique Lily et Cie).

The twins' hairstyles do differ a bit. "One thing with Mary-Kate is there's always some kind of braid in her hair," Mark said about MK's Met look from 2013. "I always want her hair to look like a painting. This was the year I decided to use hair extensions to create long braids on her." For Ashley, he's done everything from an asymmetrical bob to a low ponytail tied up with a ribbon.
