Despite wearing so many Barbie-inspired outfits during the summer press run for Barbie, Margot Robbie isn't ready to let Barbiecore die out quite yet. We're right on the precipice of awards season, and Robbie kicked it off with a baby pink polka dot minidress that would be right at home in the Dream House closet.
Margot Robbie hit the red carpet on January 4 for the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala in a pale pink and black polka-dotted Balmain mini with long sleeves, a corseted bodice, and a short skirt with subtle pleating at one hip, ending in a matching rosette. The sleeves featured just a hint of puff at the shoulder for an '80s vibe, and the bodice dipped in the center in two distinct "cups," plus yet another rosette.
She paired the dress with matching pink and black peep-toe mules, loose waves, and minimal makeup. It's definitely Barbie-esque, but it's also a truly timeless, versatile dress that anyone could wear, not just the movie star who stepped into Barbie's stilettos so beautifully.
Robbie and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, made so much Barbie magic during the press run for the movie, shouting out some of the most famous Barbies of all time without looking costumey or jokey. And they're still at it! In November, Robbie attended a Barbie event in a printed white shirt, high-rise dark denim jeans, and red accessories as an ode to "Cherry Pie Picnic" Barbie. She was then spotted in a pastel pink Versace jacket and miniskirt with a glittery bag and matching pink shoes. Not all of Robbie's red carpet looks are pink-on-pink, though. She looked beyond chic in an earthy brown strapless Schiaparelli gown at the Saltburn premiere in November.
Awards season is just a few days away, so we have a feeling Robbie and Mukamal may just blow all our Barbie dreams out of the water with more pink 'fits for the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and the big boss of them all, the Oscars. Or they could go in a completely different direction entirely, which makes our red carpet anticipation even more exciting, TBH.
