Not even a month after news broke that she had split from Kenny Rodriguez, Love Island USA alum and Love Island: Beyond the Villa star JaNa Craig is opening up about the breakup.
In case you need a quick refresher, JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez came in third during the finale of season 6 of Love Island USA on July 21, 2024. The pair had been dating ever since, until, in late July 2025, fans noticed JaNa had removed all traces of Kenny from her social media. JaNa confirmed the split on her Instagram shortly after the rumors started, claiming she had "seen all the breakup theories and none have matched up to how terrible, disgusting and disappointing it truly is” and asking fans to respect her privacy.
Now, speaking to People almost a month later, JaNa is addressing the breakup for the first time and ensuring fans she's gotten “closure” and is ready to move on. When asked about the breakup, JaNa responded: "I don't want to waste my breath on him, if I'm being so honest. I thought it was a good relationship. But it wasn't, and that's fine."
JaNa also elaborated, saying she didn't see any red flags with Kenny during their time together, despite what people now claim online after the breakup.
“I just feel like, when someone has a hidden agenda, they’re going to come off as genuine as possible to reach their goal. The red flags that people saw, I didn’t see,” she said. "People are like, ‘You missed so many things.’ I'm like, ‘But I didn't.’ Because no one's perfect. No couple's perfect. There are situations where we forgave each other as you would do in a relationship. It gets frustrating, but it's OK. Life goes on.”
JaNa also told the publication that she's “already healed” from the split, though admitted she did go through a hard time. "It was so dark – the past. I don't like talking about it anymore. I've moved on. I've gotten the closure I need. I don't really like to dwell on the past. There's no benefit [to] doing so."
In fact, the star believes the breakup was a blessing in disguise to realize she's “way stronger” than she initially thought she was. “I knew I was a tough cookie, but once you go through a couple of trials and tribulations, you realize you build more character. I'm stronger than I think,” she added.
JaNa credits her self-reflection, as well as fellow Love Island USA stars Leah Kateb and Serena Page, known as a trio as PPG, for getting her through the tough times.
"When bad things do happen, I just reflect," JaNa explained. “Self-reflection is very, very important. I think people should do it all the time. I analyze the situation for myself, I just talk it out to myself. I pray on it. I talk to God about it, and then I just literally move on. I'm really, really good at moving on. It's honestly my biggest flex if I'm being honest. I just continue to practice gratitude. It didn't kill me. I am still here. God is good. Life is good, so it's like, girl, I'm fine. I'm fine.”
“I don't think I could have gone through anything that I've been through this past year without [Leah and Serena]," JaNa added. "I ride hard for them. It's not even a friendship, it's a straight sisterhood at this point," she said. The stars were among the first to jump to her defense online when news of her breakup from Kenny first broke.
Aside from herself and her best friends, JaNa also credited the public's support for getting her through the breakup. “I just feel like the whole country just gave me a big hug after all I've been through these past few weeks, and I can't thank them enough,” she said. “I've never felt so much love. My family and my friends, they're there for me always. But everyone that's followed me, even the ones that don't follow me, but still love and support me, I am so, so grateful and I just want to let them know I'm not going to let you guys down.”
