Lila Moss basically grew up right in the center of the fashion world, so it's no surprise that the model is a total beauty expert. Moss, whose mother is the legendary supermodel Kate Moss, has graced the runway for designers like Miu Miu and Fendi and posed for Vogue, becoming an icon for a new generation of fashion and beauty fans.
In early 2023, Moss became a YSL Beauty US Ambassador; the collective currently includes stars like Charles Melton and Lil Nas X, among many others. Given that she's worked with some of the best makeup artists in the world and learned all their best tips and tricks, Moss definitely knows her way around the beauty world, the exact reason we trust her recommendations implicitly — especially when it comes to lip gloss!
Teen Vogue caught up with Moss to discuss her favorite YSL Beauty products, what beauty means to her, and the beauty advice she'd give her younger self.
Teen Vogue: How would you define beauty?
Lila Moss: I would define beauty as confidence. Someone who walks in and lights up the room with their energy and glows from the inside out is my definition of beauty.
Teen Vogue: Describe YSL Beauty in 3 emojis.
Moss: I would choose the lipstick emoji obviously; it's almost the same shade as my YSL Beauty lipstick. [I would also choose] the gold star and maybe the magic wand, because it's black and gold like most YSL packaging. 💄⭐🪄
Teen Vogue: What's a compliment you love receiving?
Moss: A great compliment I've received is that I have a nice smile. I'm always just giggling out of shyness, but people tend to tell me that often and it makes me very happy, yet still a bit shy and nervous.
Teen Vogue: What's your favorite beauty trend of the moment?
Moss: A smudgy eyeliner, like a bit of eyeliner on the waterline and smudging it out. It brings a bit of grunge to the look.
Teen Vogue: What YSL Beauty product can you not live without and why?
Moss: Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick, one of YSL Beauty's most viral products. I have three different shades in my bag and use them all for different occasions. Obviously Shade 02, the clear, is best for every day, [and I] maybe use the darker shade (Shade 15) into the night. Plus, they're hydrating so they're perfect to use throughout the day.
Teen Vogue: Any beauty advice you'd give to your younger self?
A: Wear sun cream! I never wanted to wear it when I was younger and now it's become one of the most important products in my routine. I don't want to have a red face. And if you get a tinted sun cream, it's like a 2-in-1 for a little no-makeup, makeup look!
