Kim Kardashian is the latest guest on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, and she’s opening up not only about herself but also about her daughter, North West.
North West has always been a star in her own right, often stealing the spotlight since she came out of the womb. However, her star has undeniably grown exponentially over the past few months, and Kim Kardashian is spilling the beans on how her 12-year-old responds to public criticism. Towards the end of the episode, Kim Kardashian opened up about raising North in the public eye, especially given the online chatter surrounding her most recent outfits.
Kim praised North for her creativity, confidence, and humor, and said she’s more mature and attuned to criticism than most people would assume. “She'll be like, ‘Mom, I saw this. And like, I don't really care if someone says they don't like my blue hair or, you know, like this or that,'" she shared.
Kim also urged people to have “a little bit of grace” for moms of teens and preteens. “It's really hard and it's really interesting because all the kids are wearing the same things, but then my daughter tries to wear it and then I'm like, ‘Okay, we're never wearing that again.’ Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world. And she's, you know, usually a girl [who] dresses like a tomboy most of the time. She wanted to try something that her friends were wearing and went to the same place that they went to, and they all got these outfits.”
“As a mom, you're kind of like learning at the same time,” Kim continued, adding that North is “such a good girl and such a sweet girl.”
Kim also added that North is aware of when she's outspoken or does something unexpected, which is part of the way she grapples with criticism. “She learns from that and she sees it and then she's like, ‘Oh, I don't like how I said that’ and ‘Oh, I don't wanna be like that.’ Or, ‘Oh, you know what, mom, okay, you're right.’ Like, she does listen to me, but in other areas I'm like, ‘Babe, if you want blue hair, like it is what it is.’ You know, it makes her so happy. I would never take that [creativity] away from her.”
Kim ended up saying she's all in for North experimenting to find her style. “If her rebellion is dyeing her hair and wearing whatever, but she's my bestie… I'd rather my girl be with me and be with me all the time, and let's experiment with every hair color.”
