1. Long Bob
Looking to ditch some length this season? A long bob, or lob, might be in the cards for you. The hairstyle remains popular for a multitude of reasons: it’s versatile, low-effort, and suits every hair type and texture. The cut is a longer version of the classic bob, usually hitting right at the neck or collarbone. Plus, it doesn’t demand much upkeep—no wonder celebrities like BLACKPINK’s Rosé, Hailey Bieber, and Jenna Ortega are fans of the chic, face-framing style. The lob has endless styling potential, too. You can wear it wavy for a beachy look, or blown-out for a sleek, cool-girl effect. It’s recommended to get a trim every four to six weeks to maintain the length.
2. Halo Hair
Ever since Alysa Liu debuted her striking three-ring hairstyle at the 2026 Winter Olympics, the halo hair trend is predicted to be the most experimental look of the season. The 2000s-inspired hairstyle is characterized by two-tone stripes—typically, alternating between platinum blonde or a contrasting color on top, and dark layers underneath.
There are alternatives to rocking the halo hair. You can opt for a one-tier crown around the head like Rosalía, go for raccoon stripes, which dye smaller sections of hair, or do peekaboo roots popularized by Billie Eilish. While Liu managed to DIY her halos before seeking a professional, it’s best to head to a salon to recreate this look, especially if you’re considering adding multiple rings like Liu. Halo hair also requires maintenance, so hydration and color protection are essential to keeping your hair fresh.
3. Romantic Curls
Fresh off the Bridgerton and Wuthering Heights craze, we’re turning up the dial in the romance department. This season calls for curls—specifically, soft, lengthy tendrils as seen on Kaia Gerber and Olivia Dean. To achieve the effortless, S-shaped look, all you need is a medium-sized curling iron (or heatless rods) and hairspray—and you’re good to go.
4. Beachy Waves
Whether you’re on a tropical vacay or lounging around stateside, beachy waves are the weather-proof hairstyle for the season. Even better, they can be achieved with or without heat. All you need to achieve is a texture spray to keep the waves in place, then subtly fluff it up with your hands to give it a tousled, sea salt finish. Need additional inspo? Stars like Sabrina Carpenter and Zara Larsson have perfected the bohemian-inspired look.
5. Y2K-Inspired Updos
While the clean girl aesthetic has come and gone, sleek hairstyles are still in style. A slicked back bun always comes in clutch as things heat up—especially on days when you’re in a rush, or you skipped wash day. The Y2K-inspired ‘do—favored by Bella Hadid and BLACKPINK’s Jennie—will keep the hair off the face while looking put-together. For this, you’ll need a strong hair tie, then pull your hair back using a bristle brush. Finally, use strong-hold hairspray and a hair gel to hold everything in place—and voilà!
6. Butterfly Cut
Bouncy, butterfly cuts reign supreme this season. The throwback look consists of face-framing, voluminous layers—think ’90s shag, but with longer strands. This TikTok-viral look is ideal for people who want a subtle chop without sacrificing too much length. For a bombshell finish à la Sabrina Carpenter and Hailee Steinfeld, use a round blow-drying brush and heaps of hairspray to lock in the volume.
7. Bixie Cuts
If you’re looking to make a major transformation but don’t want to commit to going super short, then consider trading in your lengthy locks for something in between a bob and a pixie: a bixie. The cropped cut boasts effortless elegance with a slightly softer edge, leaving ample room for personalized styling, whether that’s tousled texture or slicked-back layers. In other words, think of it as a grown-out pixie cut, or a shaggier bob. “Thoughtfully messy and bold, this look is perfect for those wanting to enhance their bone structure while leaving a bit of length to work with,” says Dimitris Giannetos, a celebrity hairstylist and colorist.
Similar to a pixie look, you’ll want to customize the cut to your face shape and add volume all around, depending on your features. This short ‘do is relatively easy to maintain, but it may require trims every four to six weeks to keep the shape intact, depending on how your hair grows.
8. Three-Tiered Layers
We’re not straying too far from jellyfish haircuts or step mullets for spring and summer. The choppy layered look is getting a subtle makeover; this time around, we’re doing it in threes—and stars like Billie Eilish and Tyla have playfully forayed with the experimental look.
“Three-tiered layers are perfect for creating volume and movement in the hair, making them ideal for achieving that bouncy, salon-fresh look every day,” says Dee Michelle, a luxury hair extensions specialist and founder of Linked Hair Salon. With its purposefully uniformed layers, Michelle says that this cut is best suited for those with “thicker hair who want structure, lightness, and a touch of effortless glamour.”
9. Jawline Bob
We’re committing to shorter, more drastic chops, starting with the jawline bob, a hairstyle known for its super sharp, sculpted edges. “[The jawline bob] effortlessly highlights facial features while offering a fresh, modern twist,” says Jennifer Korab, a celebrity hairstylist and owner of Renaissance Salon+Spa. Equal parts edgy and elegant, what makes this chin-grazing style—as embraced by celebrities including Hailey Bieber, Taylor Russell, and LE SSERAFIM’s Chaewon—so coveted in the new year is ultimately its versatility. It suits various hair textures and aesthetics while framing the face and highlighting your unique features.
10. Grown-Out Roots
We’re embracing the imperfect—and that includes our hair color as well. With regular maintenance and frequent salon visits being a luxury in these trying economic times, touching up our roots is the least of our worries. This season, we’re letting our hair color grow out—and we're making it totally trendy and, dare we say, grungy. Need inspiration? Adéla is the perfect example.
11. Cropped Curls
We’ll be seeing an uptick in styles that bring out natural texture, including cropped curls. “Cropped curls are a great way to refresh your curly girl aesthetic,” says Sarah Potempa, a celebrity hairstylist and co-founder of The Beachwaver Co. Potempa predicts a rise in shorter-cut curls that will “enhance your natural texture and help define the shape of the curls.”
To achieve the look, Potempa recommends bringing inspo pictures to the salon, so your stylist knows the expectations. “You should also do your research, as cutting curls is different from cutting fine and straighter hair,” she adds. Once the chop is complete, Potempa suggests opting for a mousse and styling gel to “not only define the curls, but to add shine and hold.”
12. Baby Birkin Bangs
This ’70s hairstyle is not going anywhere, but it is experiencing a subtle revamp: introducing baby Birkin bangs. Inspired by the late style icon Jane Birkin, modern interpretations have been seen on Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift, and Jenna Ortega. And while they’ve been worn at versatile lengths over the years, we’re big fans of a more cropped rendition à la Clairo, as seen above, to give them a fresh twist for the new season.
13. Long Layers
Long layers will serve as the ultimate low-maintenance style for the spring and summer. Boasting its seemingly untouched, lived-in look, long layers “create a soft, cascading effect that enhances natural texture and length while adding dimension,” says Michelle. This trend, showcased by stars like Beyoncé and Sabrina Carpenter, among many others, is all about “understated elegance with maximum impact,” adds Michelle. While this look can be achieved through a fresh trim at the salon, extensions are also another way to embody soft layers without the commitment.
14. '90s Blowouts
The sleek, bouncy blowout has been a go-to style for years, and we don’t see any signs of its momentum slowing down as temperatures rise. A clean salon-looking blowout has always been on the trend radar, but has become increasingly more popular by Sabrina Carpenter, says Potempa. Luckily, you can achieve salon-like waves from the comfort of your home with a curling iron, thermal round brush, or even heatless curling sets. A little spritz of anti-humidity treatment and hairspray will extend the life of your blowout, especially during peak summertime.
15. Mocha Mousse Hair
Warm, subdued hues that are easy to manage will continue to trend as we head into a new season. In particular, we’re eyeing deep, rich tones like mocha mousse—a color so popular, it was the first on the list of top trending searches for hair colors on Google in 2025, per a report shared with Teen Vogue. Victoria Lynch, founder and CEO of Remi Cachet, predicts that consumers will embrace nourishing routines, heatless tools, and earthier tones to create stunning looks without compromising hair health or budget. “With fewer touch-ups required, warm tones offer a long-lasting, low-maintenance option for those looking for effortless beauty.”
16. Boho Braids
Protective styles, especially boho braids, are always the style du jour for spring and summer, courtesy of KATSEYE’s Manon, Zoë Kravitz, and Marsai Martin, who are constantly providing hair inspo to rock braids with ease. This stunning look consists of box braids accented with pieces of wavy and curly hair left out, striking the perfect balance between effortless and elevated. “[Boho braids] very much give off ‘I didn’t try too hard, but I look good’ energy,” says Alvin Mills, founder of UK-based haircare brand SHYNE.
You can achieve boho braids by visiting your nearest braiding salon. In case you’re looking to DIY it at home, Mills recommends prepping your hair with a moisturizing leave-in or curl cream to soften the hair strands before braiding to cut down on frizz and give your braids a more defined finish. Once your braids are in, tie them down at night with a silky durag or a satin bonnet for an extra layer of protection. “Think of it like two-factor authentication for your braids—it really helps them last,” says Mills.
As for maintenance, keep your scalp hydrated by applying a lightweight oil a few times a week, and touch up your edges with a bit of gel or edge control when needed. “To keep the style looking fresh, I always recommend using a curl cream to define and hydrate any leave-out or loose curls,” he adds. “You can also mix it with water in a spray bottle for a quick refresh midweek.”
17. Calico Hair
Inspired by the distinctive color codes on a Calico cat, the eponymous style is rising to be one of the most daring hair trends of the season. This look takes on the chunky vibes of early 2000s highlights. The Calico hair trend usually embodies a more extreme combination of ginger, brunette, and blonde stripes. For a more subtle approach, take a look at Miley Cyrus, who softened it with a blend of honey blonde and brown hair color.
18. Hair Ribbons
The coquette trend is not over yet. Hair ribbons are a foolproof addition to our wardrobe rotation, no matter if you’re leaning into the preppy academia look or ultra-feminine aesthetics like balletcore. Whether you have them clipped by the ears or braided into your ponytails, ribbons have endless styling potential, and a running list of celebrity cosigns from the likes of Elle Fanning, Zendaya, and BLACKPINK’s Rosé.
