If one of your New Year's Resolutions is to be better with your SPF, Hailey Bieber might have found the perfect sunscreen for you.
Back in the summer, Hailey Bieber shared her updated quick everyday morning routine with Vogue, and we, along with many other viewers, couldn’t help but zone in on her sunscreen of choice. If you are anything like me, you are always looking for the perfect sunscreen — i.e., one that sinks into the skin, doesn’t feel greasy, and provides good protection against UVB and UVA.
In her Beauty Secrets video, Bieber shared that a recent sunscreen obsession of hers has been the ISDIN Fusion Water Magic sunscreen, so of course, we had to test it firsthand.
ISDIN is one of Spain's leading sunscreen brands, and its formulations are widely available in pharmacies across Europe. Bieber shared that she got hers during a recent visit to France and that she loves it so much that she regrets not getting five bottles. And we can see why.
The sunscreen Bieber uses in the video is the ISDIN Fusion Water Magic Urban, a daily SPF formulated to also protect against pollution. I managed to grab the same formula, and it’s super milky, almost liquid, and sinks into the skin beautifully, leaving a subtle but not overpowering glow. It also has no pilling or white cast.
Having been a regular user of Korean sunscreen for the past few years, I was surprised by how much I loved this ISDIN sunscreen and how similar it felt to my K-beauty favorites. While the product does have a faint smell, which is almost reminiscent of baby powder, it does not sting the eyes at all, even after rubbing it in. (I’ve even shed a tear with the SPF on and it’s been fine.) I’ve taken this on the road, even to the scorching hot sun of Bangkok, and never had an issue. My skin loves it.
The bad news is, Bieber’s exact SPF is not available in the US as is. The good news is that there’s an almost identical US-compliant formulation that’s getting a cult following of its own. Enter: the ISDIN Fusion Water Magic SPF 40, which won Allure's Best of Beauty award for Best Lotion Chemical Sunscreen in 2025.
Marketed as an SPF suitable for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin, the ISDIN Fusion Water Magic SPF 40, which is available at Sephora, is just a tiny bit richer than the EU equivalent Bieber swears by and almost doubles as a hydrating face lotion. It’s designed to combat dryness while providing protection, and it still has a silky, non-greasy texture. Its formula also includes hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and antioxidants derived from Mediterranean algae. The ISDIN Fusion Water Magic SPF 40 works with FDA-approved organic filters such as octocrylene, homosalate, octisalate, and avobenzone.
If you are looking for a readily available SPF that will perform like a European pharmacy classic, take a page from Bieber’s book and consider giving this one a try. Just remember to reapply consistently throughout the day, especially if you are swimming or sweating!
