Fashion is all about resurgence, and this time we’re seeing grandmacore come into trend. Are you likely to grab a babushka or a balaclava on your way out of the house? Maybe just a scarf and tie it over your head with a little bow on your chin? Knitwear definitely has to be involved in your ensemble and the longer your skirt, the better (especially with tights or leggings underneath), because this autumn, we are fully embracing our inner grandma!
As the winter approaches, it’s all about warmth and that includes covering as much of your head as you can, just like your grandma would. But Billie Eilish also recently proved that it actually doesn’t have to be about warmth at all. The head covering is kind of chic, especially if you’re able to style a Gucci scarf over your head like she was. Or, if minimalism is more your style, go with a simple all-black look.
Eilish is only one of many celebrities that have been elevating their look by donning a little scarf. It-girls like BLACKPINK's Jennie and Kendall Jenner have also draped scarves over their heads to channel their inner grandmas and elevate their fits. Jenner’s grandma inspired IG carousel is cozy to the max, with a peek at her day with her horses and even features her model-BFF Hailey Bieber, who sports an equally cozy chunky soft sweater. There’s no competition, cottagecore meets grandma core in this series of photos.
Bieber has been on a grandmacore kick herself. On a recent outing, she opted for an over-sized bag, big coat, sensible sweater, warm tights and classic Mary Janes. But, of course to give it her signature edge, she added a micro skirt to the mix, exemplifying how to make this trend your own.

Some have taken it to the next level with their grandma aesthetics this autumn and fully and embraced the chunky knit. BLACKPINK's Lisa showed us that you can elevate the headscarf to the next coziness level by making it a knit one.
Knit makes an appearance quite often this time of year. Temperatures begin to drop and people prefer to have their ears covered. Millie Bobby Brown was also recently cozied up with her beau in a sweet series of photos where she also took part in the knitwear trend. Her no makeup look in the car gives major Friday morning errand run vibes and we aim to be as cozy as too!

There’s no right or wrong way to embrace this trend, it’s all about comfort. If you’re not opting for warmth and you want to go a bit more casual for your grandma-inspired look, you can take the lead of Olivia Rodrigo, who was seen on a trip abroad recently in a colorful scarf wrapped around herself and snapped a photo with her singer-songwriter bestie Conan Gray. The pair looked like they were at their most comfortable, but still kept it cool and stylish on the streets.
And who better than to take grandmacore style inspo from than the OG Bella Hadid, who has been sporting cozy colorful knits, plenty of layers and funky accessories for years now.
However you choose to be your most grandma self, you’ll be sure to keep warm this winter season so grab your favorite patterned scarf and head out for your daily walk!
