Gigi Hadid got into a sticky situation at the Vetements spring-summer 2025 show at Paris Fashion Week. The supermodel walked the runway in a dress made out of DHL packing tape and heels to match.
Hadid was dressed in a body-hugging strapless mini dress that was seemingly made entirely of the iconic yellow packaging tape with the red DHL logo, though there’s probably a fabric lining on the inside — or at least, we hope. To boot, she wore a pair of matching point-toe heels, also covered in yellow and red tape. Yes, you’re reading that right. The very same tape used to close and seal your timely packages every day just made luxe for its runway debut.
For the occasion, the Vetements team skipped all the accessories, letting the two packaging-inspired pieces speak entirely on their own. Hadid simply wore her signature blonde bob in loose wet waves parted to the side millennial style. She wore just a touch of matte nude lipstick and mascara, for a very low-key look.
A motif in this collection seems to be constructing garments out of unconventional materials. Other pieces on the runway included a newspaper dress and a dress made out of other clothes. And, this isn’t the first time Demna, co-founder of Vetements and creative director of Balenciaga, has put his name behind a tape-focused outfit (or a DHL look for that matter, the brand has been putting the shipping company on the runway for nearly ten years). Hadid’s runway moment gave many fashion lovers déjà vu to Kim Kardashian’s wearing a tape bodysuit from Balenciaga back in 2022. So, many are sensing a theme here.
As Gigi Hadid strutted down the runway in her tape dress, our minds also went back to her sister and fellow model Bella Hadid’s magical exhibition on the Coperni spring-summer 2023 runway, when her dress was spray painted onto her body by hand as she posed. Both these unconventional fashion moments required quite the skills of the sisters. It seems that being a supermodel comes with super responsibilities as the fashion industry continues to evolve and up the ante.
