Gigi Hadid just channeled a ’90s icon at the 2022 WWD Honors event.
By now, we all know the velvet suit belongs to one woman only and that woman is Gwyneth Paltrow. In 1996, the actor attended the VMAs wearing a now-iconic red suit designed by Tom Ford for Gucci – and she attended the house’s Love Parade fashion show in LA last year in a remake of the ensemble, made by Alessandro Michele to mark Gucci’s centenary.
Gigi paid homage to the actor 26 years later by wearing a cobalt-blue suit by Tommy Hilfiger comprising a longline double-breasted jacket with peaked lapels and wide-leg trousers.
The part-unbuttoned shirt Gigi wore underneath also had a hint of Paltrow: she too wore a blue Oxford shirt with the buttons undone back in 1996. In keeping with the nostalgic feel, Gigi carried Aspinal London’s newly launched vintage-inspired mini Madison bag, which is crafted from chestnut croc-embossed leather.
Gigi Hadid wore her bright blonde mermaid waves in a middle parting and added winged eyeliner and a rosy lipstick. The supermodel’s skin looked radiant and dewy – no doubt the result of the expertly honed skincare routine that she shared with Vogue last year.
