What Are Ghost Lashes? How to Achieve the Trending Eye Makeup Look

The last thing our make-up routine needs is another high-maintenance mission. This year alone, we've seen the tired-makeup trend as well as siren eyeliner and doll-like makeup all over our FYP. Finally, though, ghost lashes are here, giving us a breath of fresh air just in time for fall.

For years, it feels like we’ve followed the reign of the dramatic lash — thick, heavy, and sometimes clumpy coats of mascara. But now? We’re trading this in for a more effortless, “I woke up like this” vibe. While ghost lashes are hardly a new TikTok trend, it's time they made their way into your routine.

Recently, Hailey Bieber, Charli XCX, Miley Cyrus, and Dua Lipa all ditched dramatic lashes for ghost lashes, and BLACKPINK’s Rosé even cosigned a sleek, no-mascara variation. We’ve even seen the fresh-face, no-mascara ghost lashes trend on the Spring/Summer 2026 runways, such as Calvin Klein, Simone Rocha, TOVE, and more.

While tradition usually dictates swapping light gloss for a vampy lip and reaching for those darker, deeper colors for fall, the collective love for the “less is more” ghost lashes look is completely defying the seasonal pendulum swing. Ready to master the art of the intentionally undone via ghost lashes? Below, learn more about the look, how to achieve it, and the products you can shop to try the trend yourself.

What Are Ghost Lashes?

Ghost lashes are wispy lashes that look untouched but perfectly polished. Visually, they’re all about feathery separation and a deliberate, eye-opening curl. Crucially, they lack the full pigment and texture of traditional mascara, instead featuring a soft color and sometimes even a subtle sheen. The look is so simple and weightless that it appears practically invisible, allowing other features, such as your glowy skin and polished brows, to take center stage.

Diane Hilal-Campo, MD, board-certified ophthalmologist and founder of Twenty/Twenty Beauty told Glamour earlier this year," The ghost lash trend gives lashes a chance to recover – and your eyes a break from potential irritation.”

How to Achieve Ghost Lashes:

There are a few simple ways to achieve ghost lashes, including: minimal or no mascara, and using tools to simply accentuate your own lashes. Pair your ghost lashes with a fresh-faced glow to illuminate them even more.

Minimal or no mascara

The quickest way to achieve the ghost lashes look is to dial back the mascara or even ditch it altogether. If you still want to use mascara (sometimes a beauty routine doesn't feel complete without it), consider opting for a clear color. After all, the goal here is to emphasize the length and curl of the lashes while keeping the shape of the strands thin and smooth so you'll want to avoid anything that might look too done. Using tools to accentuate your lashes

You can also achieve the ghost lashes trend by simply adding a gentle curl to your lashes. (ICYMI, experts talked to Teen Vogue and shared their tips on how to use an eyelash curler properly and safely earlier this year). You can also use a lash comb. “If people still want to wear a black or brown mascara to give their lashes some color… using a lash comb or separator is a great way to achieve this. It will remove clumpy mascara and give a ‘ghost lashes’ effect,” says Nirvana Jalalvand, Emmy award-winning hair and makeup artist.
