BLINKs and Rubies online are flocking to defend BLACKPINK's Jennie as clips from a recent interaction with fans in Paris have gone viral across social media.
Jennie, who was in the French capital to attend the Chanel spring-summer 2025 show, was spotted out and about during her off time. In the videos going viral, the BLACKPINK member can be seen leaving a store as a mass of fans wait for her to leave on the streets. Jennie makes her way from the store directly into her car but then proceeds to greet the fans after they can be heard saying things like “Are you serious?” and “Do you hate us?”
Fans online do not seem happy with the treatment Jennie received and are spreading the clips to raise awareness. “What type of behavior is that? Jennie is a human too, let her rest. These 'fans' have absolutely no respect,” someone commented on TikTok sharing the clips.
On X, people shared another angle of the interaction, in which Jennie can seemingly be heard saying she had to go as she heads into the car before making the decision to stop by for some pictures. Fans online are saying Jennie felt “guilt-tripped” into taking the pictures and are deeming the interaction as “rude,” “ungrateful,” and “disrespectful.”
“She said she has somewhere to go!!! These people are so rude they didn’t even deserve a look from Jennie. Idk how people can dare to just be rude like that,” a user commented. “Jennie should’ve just ignored them. They didn’t deserve her attention. Just plain rude,” a second one added. “It’s your choice to follow celebrities so you gotta assume the consequences. Following them do not allow you to act this rude and to force them taking pictures with you. You don’t deserve Jennie,” a third one pointed out.
Jennie recently opened up about her relationship with her fans in an interview with Harper's Bazaar, where she also got candid about working on The Idol and her upcoming music. In the interview, the singer expressed that her fans are a top priority for her. “I don’t want to lose their trust,” she said. “It is so important for me to have my culture, and everyone around the world, love me.”
Before this incident, Jennie made headlines for involving her fans in the promotion of her upcoming single “Mantra” while in Paris. Before the Chanel show, the singer greeted the crowds in between schedules and gifted them with pre-signed “Calling All Pretty Girls” posters, teasing the song's release on October 11, 2024.
