With big wins for Sinners and Kpop Demon Hunters, and Hudson Williams and Baby Yoda in attendance, Oscars 2026 was a night to remember.
Last year we were honored with John Lithgow’s disappointed face, Blackpink’s Lisa becoming an honorary Bond girl, and—lest we not forget—Hulu ending the livestream before Best Actress and Best Picture were even announced. This year, we were treated with a Bridesmaids reunion, a surprise appearances from Anna Wintour and Baby Yoda, and two epic performances honoring Sinners and KPop Demon Hunters.
In keeping with Teen Vogue tradition, we rounded up the best memes and viral moments from the 98th annual Oscars throughout the award show. Below are all the funny—or iconic—moments from Oscars 2026 you may have missed.
Michael B. Jordan wins best actor, gives credit to the Black Oscar winners who came before him
After hugging his mother and thanking God, Sinners star Michael B. Jordan held his award for best actor proudly as he gave a deeply moving speech dedicated to the people who helped make him who he is today—including his father who flew in from Ghana to watch him accept the award from the audience.
Thanking Warner Bros. and Ryan Coogler, the film’s producer, writer, and director, for “betting on the culture and betting on original ideas” and giving Jordan “a space to be seen.” Jordan went on to thank all the Black Academy Award winners who came before him, including Sidney Poitier, the first Black man to win an Oscar for best Actor back in 1964.

A “Golden” night for KPop Demon Hunters
From winning the award for Best Animated Film (Maggie Kang became the third person of South Korean descent to ever win an Oscar) to having a room full of A-list stars at the top of their craft pumping light sticks in the audience, KPop Demon Hunters is had quite the moment at this year’s Oscars. In a performance of the movie’s hit song “Golden,” the singing voices for the fictional demon-hunting girl group Huntr/x—Ejae, Nuna, and Ami—took the stage, putting on a show worthy of destroying Gwi-Ma the demon king himself. Shortly after, “Golden” took home the award for Best Original Song, making it the first K-pop song to ever win an Academy Award.

Our favorite Bridesmaids reunited
Bridesmaids stars celebrate the film’s fifteenth anniversary with an unexpected reunion. Maya Rudolph—whose long-term partner, Paul Thomas Anderson, won an Oscar earlier in the night—, Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, and Ellie Kemper came together to honor their unforgettable ensemble comedy. Honestly, they made us want to rewatch the film ASAP. (And, in case you were wondering, the comedic geniuses made it through their presentations without any emergency runs to the bathroom.)

A ballot-ruining tie for live-action short
As O’Brien joked, a tie for best live action short ruined Oscar ballots everywhere. In a surprise turn of events, both Two People Exchanging Saliva and The Singers won the award. To the internet’s surprise, ties at the Oscars 1) are allowed and 2) have happened before. In fact, there have been seven ties in the show’s history, the last being in 2013 for best sound editing with Zero Dark Thirty (Paul N. J. Ottosson) and Skyfall (Per Hallberg and Karen Baker Landers) taking home the trophy. Of course, the irony of the short film category taking twice as long to award was not lost on presenter Kumail Nanjiani who said as much before handing over the second Oscar.

Baby Yoda’s prepping for his big screen moment
Mandalorian star Grogu—AKA Baby Yoda—made a surprise appearance at this year’s awards. He had a front row seat to his on-screen co-stars Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver announcing the award for Best Production Design and Best Visual Effects. Sitting next to a cooing Kate Hudson, Weaver jokingly yelled “get away from him, you b*tch.” She delivered the iconic line from her role in Aliens so well, Pascal flinched. The bit led up to a preview for the film The Mandalorian and Grogu, set to release May 22.

Oscars “In Memoriam” brings us to tears
This year’s Oscars “in memoriam” segment brought out a host of special guests to honor late industry greats. First, Billy Crystal gave a moving tribute to actor and filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. He was later joined by several stars from Reiner’s films like Misery, When Harry Met Sally, and more. Rachel McAdams was then invited on stage to honor Catherine O’Hara and Diane Keaton, followed by a moving tribute to Robert Redford by his former coster Barbra Streisand.

A surprise Devil Wears Prada-inspired linkup
Ahead of The Devil Wears Prada 2 release, Anne Hathaway was joined on stage by Anna Wintour—who famously inspired Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly character in the film—to present the awards for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. The duo joked about Wintour’s opinion of Hathaway’s dress before awarding both honors to the teams behind Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein. With sharp comedic timing, Wintour even threw in a quick, “Thanks, Emily.”

Will Arnett wants to protect human-made animation
On the heels of O’Brien’s own joke about being the last human host of the Oscars, Arnett presented Best Animated Short Film with a speech about the importance of human-made art. “Animation is more than a prompt. It’s an artform and it needs to be protected,” he said, before handing the award to The Girl Who Cried Pearls.

Timothée Chalamet doesn’t mind being the butt of the joke
Oscars host Conan O’Brien joked in his opening monologue that security at the award show was extra tight due to concerns over potential “attacks” by the ballet and opera communities. The camera panned over to Chalamet and his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, as they laughed along with the quip that poked fun at the actor’s now-viral 2019 comments. Another joke came later in the ceremony, during a pointed speech mentioning ballet from one of the Live-Action Short film winners.

Leonardo DiCaprio becoming yet another meme
King of becoming an unexpected meme, DiCaprio was put on the spot by O’Brien during his opening monologue to react in real time to the phrase “TFW you didn’t agree to this.” The result? Yet another meme for the internet to add to their reactions folder.

KPop Demon Hunters takes over the red carpet
We can guarantee there won’t be any demons at tonight’s award show—at least not when the six voices of Huntr/x—Arden Cho (Rumi), Ejae (Rumi’s singing voice), May Hong (Mira), Audrey Nuna (Mira’s singing voice), Ji-young Yoon (Zoey), and Rei Ami (Zoey’s singing voice)—are in attendance. Hudson Williams brought a fan to his first Oscars
Sweat who? Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams beat the Los Angeles heat by bringing a fan—no, not that kind of fan—with him on the red carpet. Using the mini portable fan to cool off between interviews (and say ‘hi’ to the press), Williams made sure he stayed picture perfect. Meanwhile, comedian Fortune Feimster can be seen in the background of one of his interviews appearing starstruck when she spots him. What a mood.
