Fresh off the breakout success of Heated Rivalry, the Canadian streamer Crave is preparing to drop another LGBTQ+ sports show, Slo Pitch—this time with lesbians and softball.

Rather than focusing on the high stakes drama of major league hockey, the upcoming series Slo Pitch takes a more grounded approach, following the misadventures of an underdog queer softball team. And it gets better: the show was co-produced by Elliot Page’s production company, Pageboy Productions.

What is Slo Pitch about?

Slo Pitch is based on a Canadian web series of the same name that previously aired from 2020 to 2022.

According to the show’s official synopsis, the 10-episode mockumentary takes place in “the world of beer league sports, where Joanne Pico is to coach six-team league losers, The Public Lass Brovaries.”

“Coach Joanne is dead set on turning this team around despite having just been dumped by her girlfriend and co-founder of the team,” the synopsis continues. “Throughout the summer, Joanne leads her lovable, chaotic crew through a season of strikeouts, petty rivalries, conservative-politician sponsors, and sexy carwash fundraisers gone wrong. With her ex now playing on a rival team, Joanne’s got a lot to prove this season. It’s time to win the breakup, get the gang back together, and maybe even find new love over beers in the dugout.”

Who is in the Slo Pitch cast?

Jess Salguiero, who played Eve in the Frasier reboot series, stars in Slo Pitch as Coach Joanne. Emily Hampshire, who TV lovers might recognize from her role as Stevie Budd in Schitt’s Creek, also appears in the show and serves as an executive producer.

Although the Public Lass Brovaries are losers onscreen, the fictional team will get a visit from a real-life women’s softball icon: guest star Ayami Sato, who became the first woman to play in a Canadian men’s professional baseball league and the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) when she joined the Toronto Maple Leafs last year.

Other main cast members include Karen Knox, Gwenlyn Cumyn, Emma Hunter, Chelsea Muirhead, Lane Webber, Kadijah Roberts-Abdullah, and Amanda Cordner.

Meanwhile, Heated Rivalry fans will be happy to know that Nadine Bhabha, who plays Elena Rygg on the gay hockey show of the moment, also guest stars in and writes on the upcoming gay softball show.

When is the Slo Pitch release date?

At the time of writing, Slo Pitch doesn’t have a release date just yet. However, according to the show’s official X page, it’s set to premiere sometime in 2026.

Where can I watch Slo Pitch in the U.S.?

Right now, Slo Pitch doesn’t have a U.S. distributor. Fingers crossed that online fervor will help it get scooped up by a U.S. streamer soon! (We're looking at you HBO Max.)

Is there a trailer for Slo Pitch?

Not yet, but it looks like it might be on the way!
