Citrusy Orange Nails Are the Zesty Manicure of the Moment

And Selena Gomez is already a fan.

Thanks to orange nails, things are getting citrusy in the manicure department this spring. Not content with the usual nudes and pastel hues traditionally associated with the season of renewal, manicurist Tom Bachik and his longtime client, Selena Gomez, are ushering in the return of zesty brights for the next couple of seasons when temperatures will, we hope, rise.

Hot off the heels of the butter manicure – a lemon-yellow shade Gomez showed off last month – the pair have spiced things up a bit with an orange tone. Not quite a neon – but not far off – Bachik painted Gomez’s squoval-tipped nails a hot tangerine hue. Perfect for spring – but even better in summer – the warm color is the perfect partner to a natural (or faux) tan.

’Tis clearly the season to go bold and bright, rather than opt for neutral tones. Worldwide Google searches for “bright orange nails” are up 1,000 per cent over the last month alone and naturally there is plenty of inspiration on TikTok, from marmalade tips to fiery nail art.

While yellows and oranges aren’t always obvious colors to wear on your nails, Selena Gomez is proof that they can look great. Wear them as block colours or play with placement on the nail – with the help of Nails Inc’s orange nail pen, you can even doodle on on your fingertips, then paint a glossy top coat over the top. Easy orange nails, sorted.
