It's really hard to keep things completely under wraps when you're excited about a new project (cough, Nick Jonas, cough). The upcoming sci-fi movie Valerian, directed by Luc Besson, may be set to be released all the way in July of 2017 but it is no exception. The movie's Twitter page basically makes you feel like you're on set, and the members of the cast aren't shy about dropping their own sneak peeks. Now, Luc is giving us more of a glimpse into the film in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Some revelations from the interview: The crew is already halfway done with shooting, and Luc is so far pleased with how things are progressing. He also talks about how he first read Valérian and Laureline, the comic book the movie is based on, when he was 10 and started writing the movie at age 13, when he didn't have TV or the Internet. In fact, that lack of technology helped him with working with a blue screen:

Aside from his own imagination, Avatar also influenced the movie. In fact, Luc thought it was so good that he ended up throwing his earlier Valerian script in the trash. He explained to EW:

For now, all we know about the movie is that Cara and Dane are two agents embarking on a police investigation. But the question remains: Who are they trying to catch? And what's Rihanna’s role in all of this? Could she be the villain we’re all anxiously waiting for?

Luc did tell EW, "The big difference between this and the Marvel pattern is that with Marvel you know after five minutes who’s the villain." Meanwhile, "what’s new here is we have two agents … so you don’t know who’s exactly bad until the end, because it’s an investigation.” If that's not mysterious, we don't know what is — and we'll have to wait over a year to get all of the answers.
