If you are a fan of Zombie apocalypse stories and also happen to be a fan of BLACKPINK's Jisoo, you are not going to want to miss the upcoming K-drama Newtopia.
Based on Han Sangwoon's novel Influenza (인플루엔자 in Korean), Newtopia is here to fill the Zombie-shaped hole All of Us Are Dead left in our hearts and fill it with a side dose of romance. Arriving in 2025 and starring Jisoo, Newtopia is directed by Yoon Sunghyun, whose name you might recognize from Netflix's 2020 movie Time to Hunt.
The show's script was co-penned by Han Jinwon (whom you might also recognize from a little movie called Parasite — you know, the first non-English movie to win Best Picture at the Oscars) and A Shop for Killers' Ji Hojin— so to say expectation is stacked would be an understatement.

When is BLACKPINK's Jisoo's Newtopia releasing?
After much anticipation, it's been confirmed that the premiere date for Newtopia will be Friday, February 7, 2025. Episodes will air at 8:00 pm KST.
Where can I watch BLACKPINK's Jisoo's drama Newtopia?
Newtopia is a Coupang Play original and, as such, will be available on the Coupang Play app in South Korea. The series is also confirmed to be released on Prime Video in over 240 regions.
What is the K-drama Newtopia about?
As mentioned above, Newtopia is based on Han Sangwoon's Influenza novel. The show will follow the story of Lee Jaeyoon, a young man doing his mandatory military service, and Kang Youngjoo, his engineer girlfriend. The couple breaks rather abruptly after arguing over being part for too long while Jaeyoon is conscripted.
However, that same day, a zombie outbreak spread across Seoul, and the two will do anything and everything to be reunited again. “Can two broken hearts meet halfway in the middle of a zombie apocalypse?” Prime Video teased as Newtopia's official logline.

Is there a trailer for the K-drama Newtopia?
Coupang Play and Prime Video released the first official trailer for Newtopia on January 6, 2025. The trailer kicks off with Jisoo's voice on the phone as her character, Kang Youngjoo, breaks up with Park Jeongmin's Lee Jaeyoon, who's in his Republic of Korea Army tracksuit. “The day we broke up, the world came crashing down,” letters on the screen then read as flashes of the zombie outbreak take over the trailer set to a remix of Mozart's “Piano Sonata No. 11.”
“Are you going AWOL to look for your girlfriend?” a fellow ROKA soldier asks Jaeyoon as the two move heaven and earth to reunite in zombie-filled Seoul.
