For the past month, Bella Hadid has been dominating the runways in fashion weeks across the world. Now, she wants to do the same with your wardrobe. The famed supermodel has teamed up with European e-commerce retailer ABOUT YOU for the first time to drop an exclusive F/W collection that pulls inspiration from her own eclectic sense of style.
If you are a fan of Bella's street style looks, then you'd know the model usually favors '90s- and Y2K-inspired silhouettes, especially as of late. The Bella X ABOUT YOU collection taps into these notions with a selection of mini skirts, polo shirts, straight-leg and flared pants, as well as statement outerwear. Graphic elements also take center stage in the top offerings. According to the ABOUT YOU site, some of the materials used in the collection are mesh, jersey, denim, and leather.
As any devoted Bella fan also knows, inspiration is not all. The model actually incorporates a vintage twist in her 'fits more often than not, turning to second-hand shopping to craft some of her most memorable looks. (She's believed to be an avid Depop user, after all!)
Incorporating the sustainability and individuality aspect that second-hand shopping brings to the table is indeed a difficult task when launching a collection that's readily available to consumers around the world — not to say impossible. Bella and ABOUT YOU found their compromise by including four upcycled pieces made from 100% recycled denim fabric. (The items in question are a handbag, a tie, a mini skirt, and a midi skirt.)
To accompany the collection launch, ABOUT YOU also unveiled a photo shoot by photographer Conor Cunningham. Bella styled herself for it, using pieces from the collection and her own wardrobe. "We spent a year creating this for you, and you know I'm not putting my name on anything without being there 100% of the way!!!" the model wrote on Instagram. "I wanted to bring you something 100% B 100% Me … I wanted to make easy, chic, comfortable pieces you can layer, throw on, dress up or dress down."
