Earlier this week, Bad Bunny caused quite a stir when he took to social media to unveil a brand new look featuring curly hair and a pretty impressive goatee, all dyed a dark shade of ginger.
Immediately after Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, posted the picture, it was reposted across the internet, achieving millions of impressions and sending fans into a frenzy — for better or for worse.
“If you squint, it’s Ice Spice,” someone commented under a repost. “My man's looking like Mr. Tumnus from Narnia with that hair,” someone else added. Others were feeling the look. “Ginger benito might have me,” someone commented. “I love you, ginger Bad Bunny,” somebody else added.
Whether you love it or hate it, you might be wondering if the ginger is here to stay, and it doesn't look that way. After some digging, it looks like the reason Bad Bunny has gone ginger is for an upcoming role. Prior to sharing the selfie, the Puerto Rican star was spotted on set for Caught Stealing, which stars Austin Butler as Hank Thompson.
Ocasio, whose acting credits already include Bullet Train and Netflix's Narcos: México, among others, was spotted filming scenes with Butler and other actors on location in New York City on September 25 and 26. Not only was the new ginger do in action, but Bad Bunny also seems to be rocking freckles for the role.
Though not much has been said about Bad Bunny's role in Caught Stealing, we do know his character's name is Colorado, which seems to be a reference to the red hair. Judging by other pics from the set, Colorado seems to have a penchant for a good tweed suit.
Aside from Bad Bunny and Butler, the cast of Caught Stealing also includes Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Regina King, and more. The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky, who's also behind projects like The Whale, Black Swan, and Requiem for a Dream.
“Burned-out ex-baseball player Hank Thompson unexpectedly finds himself embroiled in a dangerous struggle for survival amidst the criminal underbelly of 1990s New York City, forced to navigate a treacherous underworld he never imagined,” the film's official synopsis reads on IMDb.
