On November 22, the 2020 American Music Awards (AMAs) came and went, leaving us with many moments to gush over. From Megan Thee Stallion’s legendary performance of her new single “Body” to Dua Lipa’s sky-high rendition of “Levitating,” the night was a reminder of how powerful music can be, especially in such a challenging year like 2020.
Music was the main star of the night but, of course, celebs showed up looking as fabulous as ever. Because even in a pandemic, fashion can never take a backseat. From BTS to Billie Eilish and more, there was no shortage of swoon-worthy looks. Some of the stars — like Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber — went for a more casual, laid back look, which certainly fits the #QuarantineVibes of this year.
If you missed the 2020 AMAs, here were our favorite looks from the show – from the glitz and glam to the cool and collected.
1. BTS
Our favorite boys delivered two looks at the AMAs. First, a classic white and black look for the first live rendition of BE title track “Life Goes On.” Despite the looks' simplicity, they still managed to look as sophisticated as ever – which, honestly, makes a lot of sense given the song's message.
2. BTS Pt. 2
For their second look, BTS stormed the stage to perform the chart-topping “Dynamite” looking like a technicolor whirlwind. They truly are the Kings of Versatility.
3. Megan Thee Stallion
Alexa, play “Body” on repeat, please. Megan accepted the award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop in this show-stopping lime green mini dress.
4. Doja Cat
Fresh off the release of her latest collaboration with Ariana Grande, Doja Cat went for a more eclectic look than usual on the red carpet courtesy of this Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood asymmetric dress.
5. Doja Cat Pt. 2
For her acceptance speech – she took home Favorite Female Soul/R&B Artist and New Artist of the Year – Doja also rocked Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood. This time, she opted for a brown gown, much more dramatic than other looks of the evening.
6. Maluma
How to describe Maluma's red carpet appearance? King. No further description required.
7. Maluma Pt. 2
But in case you needed even more of a reason to love the Colombian singer, he then changed into a mixed pattern striped overcoat with a matching pant set that fit him flawlessly.
8. Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa started the night on the red carpet with a bedazzled white mini dress from Versace that was both festive and fabulous.
9. Dua Lipa Pt. 2
When it came time to take the stage for the evening, Dua slipped into a shimmery silver dress with matching shoes.
10. The Weeknd
This certainly was not what we expected The Weeknd to wear, but it was a moment in and of itself.
11. Cara Delevingne
BRB, I need to purchase this metallic suit ASAP.
12. Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly
Did somebody say asymmetry? It’s time this couple get the respect they deserve, especially on the red carpet!
13. Billie Eilish
Queen of everything, Billie stuck true to her signature fashion style with this look straight from her “Therefore I Am” music video.
14. Shawn Mendes
With his hair longer than my Black Friday wishlist, Shawn Mendes took the stage in a casual look, sporting a button-down and white t-shirt.
15. Justin Bieber
Like Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber went for a similarly casual look. What can we say: The fans love to stan these boys for constantly doing the least.
16. Paris Hilton
Silver certainly seemed to be the trend of the day, as made evident by Paris Hilton’s gorgeous mini dress.
17. Jennifer Lopez
Is there any outfit she can’t rock? JLo looked incredibly festive in this, again, silver two-piece.
18. Laverne Cox
Laverne Cox may not be a music star, but she showed up dressed like a trophy herself.
19. Ciara\
Ciara showed up serving looks.\
