After giving us a lesson in human anatomy on the Met Gala red carpet, Alysa Liu changed into a cool and casual look for the GQ after-party, including unconventional sneakers.
Carrying over the monochrome theme from her main look of the night, Liu went with an all-black ensemble, fitting for the later hour. She wore black pleated wide-leg pants and a leather vest, skipping the shirt.
But the pièce de résistance was her choice of footwear. For the red carpet, the Olympic gold medalist swapped her skates for a pair of doll-like red heels; for the after-party, however, she ditched the pumps for sneakers—a more sensible shoe, especially for an athlete. She didn't choose just any sneaker, of course, but went with fan-favorite Nike Air Force 1s.
Instead of the typical white colorway, she opted for a black pair to coordinate with her overall look. Liu, who wore Louis Vuitton on the red carpet as a newly appointed brand ambassador, has also worked with Nike before, so it makes sense that she repped them on fashion’s biggest night.
It’s totally Liu’s alt style to go against the status quo. The Teen Vogue cover star is known for it, after all. During her press run, after winning gold at the Olympics, the figure skater showed off her cool and casual street style.
So she couldn't help but bring her originality to the Met Gala. Though she was dressed in a Louis Vuitton gown and wearing jewels on the red carpet, she also incorporated elements of her go-to style, showing off her smiley piercing throughout the night.
And she gave her signature halo hair a refresh with a faux hime. She typically wears it straight, but opted for wet waves for the Gala, matching the ruffles of her cell-like layered dress. Liu also kept her red makeup intact as she headed to the GQ after-party, topping her all-black look with pop of color.
Liu has been bringing her own flair to the skating world for a while, and it seems like she's now doing the same in fashion!
