Postcards from SXSW—Catching Up with our Favorite Artists in Austin
You may never find more bands in one place than you can during South By Southwest in Austin, TX. There are artists performing at showcases all over the city, and between sets you can find them walking the downtown streets or checking out their favorite acts at the festival. We had the chance to catch up with some of our fave bands before they took the stage at The Fader Fort presented by Converse, and talk all things SXSW—from BBQ's and backyard parties to the artists they're most excited to see.
Check out our postcards in the slideshow above and start planning your trip for next year! This is one festival you don't want to miss.

Highlight So Far: "We just got in so we're kind of just getting started. But honestly just the fact that we're going to be in the same place for more than 24 hours is so exciting. We came straight from our tour."
Excited to See: "We're really excited to see Tobias Jesso Jr. and definitely want to checkout Courtney Barnett."
Fave Thing About SXSW: "Queso! And the BBQ—everything has brisket on it."
My First Pair of Chucks: Sasha - "Simple white low tops in college and I wore them constantly."
Theo — "My first pair were blue low tops in 8th grade. I wrote all my favorite band names on them and they got so ratty. By the end they were more tape than shoe."

Favorite Thing About SXSW: "How busy and active it is—so many bands to see and people to meet. And we get to see a lot of friends that we don't see throughout the year so it's always a good vibe."
Highlight So Far: "Last night playing the Boiler Room showcase with Ghostface Killah was awesome, that was our fifth show with him and each one just keeps getting better. And then we got to stay for Rae Sremmurd, Freddie Gibbs, and Kaytranada who all killed it."

Excited to See: "I love Run the Jewels and would love to go and see them. I’m also a big fan of Ice Age, their album was one of my favorites of last year. And I’m definitely going to check out Shamir who is going on before us."
My First Pair of Chucks: Ellie — "I got my first pair when I was 13 and I think I got them at a secondhand store, and they were pink. I was so excited but then I got them home and I realized that one of them was really faded, so were they were almost different colors. I was so upset, but I wore them anyway."

Highlight So Far: "Last night I went to three different parties and at the last one Just Blaze was DJing house music in someone's attic, so that was pretty awesome."
Most Excited to See: "I think it was Rae Sremmurd, who I saw last night. I pretty much just lost my mind while they were playing."
My First Pair of Chucks: "It was in grade 8 and they were actually very similar to these ones, but I accidentally bought them a size too big, so they kind of looked like clown shoes. But I was just so excited to have them, because Kurt Cobain had them and I wanted to be like him."
I would tell myself to try as many different things as possible! College is an amazing time to experiment, indulge your interests, and find out what you’re truly passionate about. What fashion item seems to always be on your shopping list?
