I started my channel in August of 2010, shortly after my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I knew that I would have a rough road ahead of me and my family encouraged me to start making videos. They knew it was something I was passionate about and I could use it as a creative outlet.
What is your beauty philosophy?
Makeup is not a necessity in life. It's simply something used to enhance your features, not hide your flaws. I believe that true beauty radiates from within.
Where do you get ideas or inspiration for your tutorials?
My close friends, pictures of my favorite celebrities, and just experimenting with different products. I'll try out something new and find my favorite way to wear it, which will often inspire a tutorial or look.

For the past two years, I've been growing my hair and working to maintain its health. Now that my hair is quite long (right below my bellybutton), I like to have fun with it. Some days I'll curl it to create mermaid-like waves and other days I'll straighten it. I love to try different styles, but I'm a lazy girl at heart, so I also love to throw it up into a simple ponytail.
What was the hardest tutorial you've ever filmed and why?
Tutorials in general are often more challenging than a vlog-style video, mainly because they require more time with editing and filming. My favorite tutorials I've filmed have been my darker, more edgy, but still neutral looks: "Mid Metals: A Tutorial" and "Feminine Edge: A Prom Tutorial."

My family means the world to me, so I make it a point to spend as much time with them as I can. I also love to spend time with my friends, go shopping, see a movie, or just hang out. I'm going to be starting my first year of college in the fall, so I guess soon my days will include lots of studying!
What's in your makeup bag right now?
I actually don't carry around much makeup on a daily basis. I always have a chapstick in my purse though! One that I'm currently loving is my Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment.
What three beauty products do you find yourself buying over and over again?
I am in love with the Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Foundation and, no matter how many different foundations I purchase, I always come back to this one. I'll always repurchase the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. This moisturizer is great for sensitive skin and is perfect to use at night. Finally, I have repurchased the Urban Decay Primer Potion many times. This was the first eyeshadow primer that I ever used, and I have it in all of the different shades. Eyeshadow primer is very important because it keeps your shadows from creasing and keeps the colors vibrant all day. I love this product and it's one of my favorite basics.

When I started my YouTube channel, I knew I had to maintain my priorities. My family has been, and will always be, my first priority. School is also something that I make sure to focus on because getting a good education is very important to me. My YouTube channel is my hobby, and although it's a huge part of my life, I know that I need to make sure I'm fulfilling all of my other commitments first. Time management is a major part of balancing it all, and I learned that skill at a very young age.
Do you have advice for a reader that wants to start a channel?
My main advice is to be passionate about it. I often get asked, "How do I get more subscribers and views?" To me, YouTube isn't about how many people watched your video or how many subscribers you got the month before. YouTube is a place to express your passion and be able to connect with other people who share a similar interest. If you're doing something that you're passionate about, the numbers don't matter. Do it for yourself and do what you love.
