"It's important to use a clarifying shampoo once every two weeks," says celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis. In addition to styling-product buildup, lead and other minerals from the water you use in the shower can accumulate, making locks look dull. "As a last step, when blow-drying, flick the temperature setting switch to cool and blast the air down the strands toward the ends for extra shine!" he says.

You should use a heat protectant before styling with hot tools, stresses celebrity hairstylist Brian Magallones. "It's like you're putting a thin layer of protective plastic coating on each strand," he says. "And never curl or flatiron your hair when it's wet; you basically boil and destroy the top layer."

"Frizz-fighting starts in the shower," says Dove celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend, whose famous fans include Jennifer Lawrence. While your scalp's natural oils make the best moisturizer for hair, "using a great hydrating shampoo and conditioner will fill cuticles and help prevent breakage," he says. For a quick frizz fix, he recommends using a shine spray.

Give coconut oil a try, advises hairstylist Jen Atkin of Andy Lecompte Salon in Los Angeles. "After heating it slightly, pour some of the warm oil onto your hands and massage it into the scalp," she says. Cover the hair with a shower cap, let the oil sit for two hours, and then wash it out with a gentle shampoo for superlustrous locks.
