Blogger of the Moment: Cheyenne Meets Chanel

Shea, a bohemian beauty who grew up on a small-town ranch, fled to Los Angeles, fell for the glamour of Hollywood Hills, and started blogging about her adventures and inimitable style. Striking a balance between earthy and edgy, she pairs bell bottoms with stilettos and crocheted frocks with quilted handbags; she favors high-fashion accessories by but tops every ensemble off with her beachy blond locks.
Shea's a fashion force, with thousands of fans following every outfit, musing, and tweet, but what's really remarkable is that Cheyenne Meets Chanel is just over a year old. In a matter of months the budding stylist, designer, and writer has turned her love of clothing into an entire career. This California girl is sure to inspire, regardless of what coast your hail from.

What is the story behind your blog's title?
It's a little story based loosely on my life. I grew up in a small country town and then moved to Hollywood to pursue my dreams. Cheyenne represents the small town country girl in me, and Chanel the big city fashionista. A collision of styles you could say.
If your blog had a mission statement, what would it be?
"It's not what you wear, it's how you wear it." Or, "fashion is an art and your body is the canvas."

Hometown: West Hollywood, California
Date Started Blogging: November 2010
Why did you initially decide to start a blog?
I've always been obsessed with fashion and was reading several other fashion blogs. Both my mother and best friend do photography so I thought "I should be doing this!" I started having them take photos of what I was wearing on a daily basis and began posting them. Now my blog is also kind of following my life in Hollywood and all the things I have going on... so it's a lot more than just what I'm wearing at this point. I entered the whole blogging world late though. My blog is only about to have it's one year anniversary next month!

How would you describe your style?
Yikes, always a hard question. Truthfully my style changes daily, so it's really hard to pinpoint it. One day I feel like being a chic New York socialite and then next a little bit of a rocker or a hippie. That's the great thing about fashion: you can change who you are everyday. Ever-changing, I guess, would be a good way to describe my style.
Who are your favorite designers?
Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang, Ann Demeulemeester, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, the late Alexander McQueen, Christophe Decarnin for Balmain... I could go on and on.

Who inspires your wardrobe and why?
I read about 50 different fashion blogs daily, and have subscriptions to every major fashion magazine. I follow the fashion world very closely and get my inspiration from all over, from bloggers, models, designers and more. I'm also a huge fan of street style. In terms of certain individuals, I love Kate Moss, Erin Wasson, Emmanuelle Alt and Abbey Lee, just to name a few.
What do you do when you're not blogging?
I work for a designer, and I also work for an event company in Hollywood. I'm so busy all the time with a thousand different things going on. I'm kind of all over the place right now.

What are your personal favorite blogs?
Style Scrapbook and The Blonde Salad are my favorites. Both Andy Torres and Chiara Ferragni have become friends of mine, and they are both amazing women. All of our styles are so different. I love following their lives and watching what they’re wearing since we don’t get to talk all the time. Other blogs I love are Atlantic Pacific, Late Afternoon, Vogue Gone Rogue, The Glamourai, and Fashiontoast.

Are there any trends you are particularly inspired by this season?
Yes! I become obsessed with certain things every season. Right now it's anything burgundy. Also metallics and black lace. My idea of the perfect fall outfit: a long gold pleated maxi skirt with a slouchy burgundy knit sweater and black ankle boots.
What trend from the past would you like to make a comeback?
Chokers! I've been saying for a while that they will be coming back soon—and I'm finally hearing that this may be true!

What clothing item would you say is timeless?
A little black dress, always.
What beauty product can you not live without?
I have so many I love! Bobbi Brown's tinted moisturizing balm is one. It gives your skin that youthful dewy look. Also Nars lipstick in Fast Ride. It's a sheer wine stained burgundy color. I've always been a fan of dark lips and minimal eye makeup—especially in the fall!

Any advice for anyone who wants to start her/his own blog?
You have to be consistent and you have to have great quality. There are so many blogs at this point that you really have to do something that stands out from the crowd. Leandra from The Man Repeller is a genius! Most importantly, you can’t give up when you realize how much work is involved because we all know nothing good in life comes easy!

What are the best aspects of running your own blog? What are the hardest aspects?
Blogging is my favorite hobby, I love reading everyone's comments and sharing my life and taste in fashion. I've made so many friends and have had so many amazing opportunities come from it. It really is the thing I am most passionate about. People don't realize how much work goes into it though. It's extremely time consuming. The amount of time I spend on the computer each day blogging, or reading other blogs... It's not normal!
What type of camera do you use?
I alternate between a Canon EOS 1D, Canon 10D and Canon Rebel. Depends on who's taking my photos.

**How do you capture your outfits each day? **
Most often, my best friend or roommate takes the pictures. My mom is also a photographer and loves to shoot me, but we live about two hours away from each other, so it's not always convenient.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
My favorite store in Los Angeles is Opening Ceremony. I also love Intermix, Barney's, Madison, LF, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Of course, I'm also a huge fan of ZARA, HM, and Forever 21. And flea markets! Spending Sundays at the flea markets in Los Angeles is one of my favorite things to do.
