9 2019 Fashion Trends You'll See Everywhere

As we enter 2019, we’re turning over a new sartorial leaf. Gone are the days of Barbie pink (though we loved it while it was here!), denim bike shorts, and the like, as we usher in some of our newest favorite trends for the coming year. The name of the game is exaggerated tailoring: We're embracing puffy sleeves, asymmetrical silhouettes, and more statement-making trends that are best worn with tailored separates or suiting-inspired styling pieces. We’ve taken our streamlined closets into a more experimental realm, no longer happy with just the wardrobe basics. As you complete that end-of-year closet clean-out and make room for the new pieces of 2019, here are the trends everyone will be wearing this year — and how we’re shopping them.

Oversized Puffers
Perhaps the most immediate 2019 trend to embrace is the oversized puffer. After all, ’tis the season! As the temperature continues to plummet, celebrities have really embraced the gigantic puffer style from the runways, making it more fashionable than ever to really just cozy up in your warmest outer layer. And we couldn’t be more thrilled.

Bike Shorts
While this particular sporty trend began slowly toward the end of the 2018 summer, it’s about to come back in full force in 2019. Not only is the fashion set more willing to embrace the Kardashian-Jenner-approved trend now that we’ve seen it for a few months running, but it’s a sure bet the warmer weather will bring with it many more ways to style.

Puff Sleeves
Even with the most minimal and understated style, silhouettes are growing in shape. This time, however, the fashion set is taking a more tailored approach to the statement-making look, opting for ultra-feminine puff sleeves like those on the runway at Brock, Marc Jacobs, and more.

Exaggerated Ruffles
Dramatic details are coming back with fervor as we have begun to see more and more oversized ruffles, especially on the red carpet. Celebrities like Kiki Layne have been opting for this exaggerated detail that seems more artistic than anything else — and we can’t get enough.

Cargo Pants
With a ’90s and early-aughts closet currently filled with logo-clad sportswear, slip dresses, dad sneakers, and mom jeans, the newest addition comes by way of cargo pants. Whether slim, like we saw on the Prabal Gurung runway, or more wide-legged, as debuted by Sies Marjan, these utilitarian-inspired bottoms are about to make a huge comeback in 2019.
