Nicole Richie: Fashion Blogger Photo Shoot Diaries

Three things I learned about Nicole Richie on our Teen Vogue photo shoot:
She's always early. Her call time for the Teen Vogue shoot: 1pm. Her arrival time: 11:40am.
She takes her coffee with whole milk and, not one, not two, not three, but four packets of sugar. And you wondered why she was so sweet?!
She likes it hot. Nicole's summery Winter Kate dress had me craving warmer weather—but not quite as warm as Nicole, who kept sneaking over to the thermostat to turn the temperature up to eighty. Such an L.A. girl!

The lookbook shoot for Nicole's fall House of Harlow 1960 sunglasses collection was taking place in the same studio as the photo shoot, so I couldn't leave without sneaking a peek (and picture). Among the standouts? Leather covered shades! "Over the years, sunglasses have become a really fun way to express myself through fashion," Nicole said of her signature accessory.

My next rendezvous with Nicole took place a few weeks later at, where else?, the Ritz in Paris. A natural fit, considering we were discussing L.A. style. Knowing Nicole's penchant for being early, I arrived fifteen minutes ahead of our scheduled breakfast date only for Nicole to pop in—ahem—three minutes late. After I forgave her, she ordered her usual coffee with milk, but removed the sugar evidence before I could snap a picture. "Let's not show everyone just how much sugar I put in my coffee!" she laughed. Her covetable shades are from her fall/winter House of Harlow 1960 collection.

Eye spy a Celine bag in the back left corner! Shopping seemed to be a running theme of Nicole's Paris trip. Having scooped up her chic new tote the day before, her plan of attack following our breakfast was to hit the Clignancourt Flea Market. So how does she think her style has changed over the years? "When I started I was in my early twenties, and now I'm approaching 30," she said. "So over the course of 10 years, I think any girl can say their style has changed. It's not something I have noticed. It wasn't a conscious decision to say, 'Oh, I'm going to change my whole style today!' It's really just been a part of growing up—and I'm sure it's not going to stop here. That's the fun of fashion. It's fun and important to take chances and do things you probably won't do later on. I've been trying to convince all my girlfriends to dye their hair pink," she added, laughing. Stay tuned . . .
