Kendall Jenner Just Broke a Major Fashion Rule (and Still Looks Amazing)

Still following that old “No white after Labor Day” rule? Kendall Jenner just might change your ways. Out with her sister Kim at yesterday’s U.S. Open matches — where they later met up with Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas — the model showed up in snow-colored crop top, skirt, and coat combination that still felt totally right for fall.
There’s a couple of reasons why Kendall's look is so successful, starting with the warm cream and beige tones she mixed in, giving everything a more autumnal feel. Then there’s the balance of silhouettes: whereas just a short top and skirt could read too summery, outerwear (even if it’s just draped over the shoulders!) changes the outfit’s entire dynamic. Throw in a nice blend of heavier, cool weather textures — fuzzy sweater material, thick silk, draped knits — and you’ve got a winning formula. To help you get it just right, we’ve shopped the full look ahead.

When it comes to choosing a crop top, a more substantial fabric is key — think chunky knits or structured crepe. Anything too floaty or see through doesn't feel quite right for the season.

The skirt should be a heavier make as well, but you’ve got some leeway on the silhouette. Short and flippy, slim and fitted, straight up-and-down — if the hemline hits above the mid calf (a maxi length can be overwhelming with a longer coat), it works.
