14 Ivanka Trump Brand Fails Through the Years
On Tuesday morning, it was announced that Ivanka Trump’s fashion line would be no longer. After a long run of bad press, investigations, social media trolling, and outright protests, it’s finally time to say goodbye to the brand for good. Reportedly happening “ASAP,” it’s a quick ending to an epic saga of controversy. Of the decision, Ivanka released the following statement: "When we first started this brand, no one could have predicted the success that we would achieve. After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington, so making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners. I am beyond grateful for the work of our incredible team who has inspired so many women; each other and myself included. While we will not continue our mission together, I know that each of them will thrive in their next chapter."
Though many might argue the brand would do better without the First Daughter at the helm, it would be impossible to totally separate the two, making it the only foreseeable choice to cease all workings immediately. As a result of all of the negative attention for the brand, Ivanka’s line was investigated by The Washington Post, who reported that workers were so underpaid overseas that one even said, “My monthly salary is not enough for everyday expenses, also not for the future.”

The Ivanka Trump brand is dropped from select Bed, Bath, and Beyond stores, though the official statement said, “We are not making our merchandising decisions based on anyone’s political beliefs. We have Ivanka Trump products in some stores and carry them where consumer demand and business performance justifies it.”

Modern Appealing Clothing in San Francisco filed a class action lawsuit that claimed Ivanka’s line had an unfair advantage due to her father’s political status. They sought to block her clothing from being sold in the entire state of California.

Kellyanne Conway went on Fox & Friends and promoted Ivanka’s clothing line, saying, “Go buy Ivanka’s stuff. I’m just gonna give a free commercial here, go buy it today, you can buy it online.” While she skirted punishment, it was against federal law for a White House employee to use their position to endorse any products or services — let alone that belonging to the First Daughter.

Nordstrom silently removes Ivanka Trump from their website and stores, telling Teen Vogue, “We've said all along we make buying decisions based on performance. We've got thousands of brands – more than 2000 offered on the site alone. Reviewing their merit and making edits is part of the regular rhythm of our business. Each year we cut about 10% and refresh our assortment with about the same amount. In this case, based on the brand's performance we've decided not to buy it for this season.”
