Beauty Blogger Of The Moment: HauteBrilliance

Aspyn is just a fifteen-year-old high school student, but on YouTube, she's a total beauty authority. With videos that cover everything from mastering the Lauren Conrad-inspired topknot to pulling off purple eyeshadow, this teen's tips and tricks are seriously helpful; they're also totally entertaining, which is why her videos have garnered over two million views.
The beauty of Aspyn's 100 (and counting!) videos is that they're not only age appropriate—most of the looks are school-friendly—but they also inspire girls to experiment with different products and techniques at home—because, after all, makeup should be fun. Mixing glamorous inspiration with a girl-next-door sensibility, HauteBrilliance is hard to not to love.

Why did you initially decide to start a blog?
I was watching some of the well-known beauty gurus on YouTube and was inspired by their style and confidence so I decided to create my own channel.
What is the story behind your vlog's title?
I thought of many names and was inspired by my favorite lip gloss by Boots named Haute Brilliance. I loved it because haute means high class—which I think every girl should be—and the brilliance part [means] to always sparkle and shine as yourself and also to be intelligent!

If your vlog had a mission statement, what would it be?
Be you, be true and be beautiful from the inside out.
What do you do when you're not blogging?
I'm a cheerleader at my high school, which takes up a lot of my time. I do a lot of studying (a good education is important) and I also love hanging out with my family and friends.

What are your personal favorite blogs and vlogs? Why?
My top favorites are Macbarbie07, Strawberryelectric48, and Sweetbeautyx! I love all three of their personalities! I also love AkayDoll, Beauty4everxo, and FashionwithTy.

What type of camera do you use?
Canon SX 30 IS. But I'm saving up for the Canon Rebel T3i.
What beauty product can you not live without?
Mascara. If I could only have one product it would be mascara because no look is complete without it. My favorite is Covergirl Lash Blast. I also love lip gloss. The Mac Dazzleglass in Baby Sparks is one of my faves.

Any advice for anyone who wants to start her/his own blog?
Be consistent with posting videos and invest in a good camera so that your videos will be high quality.
What are the best aspects of running your own blog? What are the hardest aspects?
The best aspects are getting to meet so many new people, making so many new friends and seeing that all my hard work pays off. The hardest aspect is learning to deal with the fact that you can't please everyone.

How long have you been into makeup?
I was allowed to wear make up in 6th grade but wasn't all that interested in experimenting more with it until 9th grade.
Do you prefer drugstore or high-end makeup brands?
High-end. Investing in high-end make up pays off because a lot of the time it is better quality. I do have quite a few products from the drugstore that I love as well like my mascara.

If you had a thousand dollars to spend on makeup, what would you buy?
The Dior Air Flash foundation, I've had my eye on it for a while. I would also invest in some Benefit products—it's my favorite high-end brand—and purchase some MAC lip products.
What's in your travel beauty bag?
My Stila One Step foundation: it's primer, concealer, foundation, and powder combined into one product. My Nars Laguna Bronzer, Mac Rubenesque paint pot, mascara, and lip gloss.
