The 10 Golden Globes Beauty Looks That Will Inspire You All Year
The Golden Globes are renowned in Hollywood for being the most fun awards show of the season, but as far as last night's red carpet was concerned, everyone played it safe—and, it goes without saying, looked seriously pretty. Riffs on retro glamour (seen on T-Swift and Lena Dunham) and simple nude-lip, smoky-eye combos (à la Emma Roberts and Allison Williams) were the most prevalent trends last night. While they looked beautiful, it was Young Hollywood's most daring darlings—Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, and Sarah Hyland—who stood out the most. Their willingness to break the mold is exactly the kind of spirit we should all have when dressing up. Forget the rules, have a little fun.

She was the only star to rock something other than a nude or red lip—impressive! Makeup maestra Kate Lee mid two different Chanel Rouge Allure colors—Coromandel and Exaltique—to capture the perfect pinky-red to offset Emma’s fabulous coral Dior ensemble. She matted the lips with blotting paper to emphasize the pigment, and kept the complexion clean, finishing with barely-there "micro-liner" and a dusting of eyeshadow. "Emma’s lashes are so naturally gorgeous," Lee says. "We didn’t even need to curl them!" Some girls are just born red carpet-ready.

Her short hair is still turning heads and making headlines, and we think the attention's well deserved. Rocking a textured pixie and a berry lip (Rouge Dior Prune Daisy, to be exact!), the Best Supporting Actress winner looked effortlessly sophisticated.

The Modern Family star has serious Cara Delevingne brows, so Dior makeup artist Allan Avendaño decided to make them the focal point of her look. "Sarah wanted to do something completely different, so we opted for a subtle eye, with just a simple gold sheen," he says. Pulling it all together was a Valentino runway-inspired milkmaid braid, pinned up at the eleventh hour—she had planned to wear it down!—by stylist Ryan Richman.

The American Horror Story actress showed up in a dashing black Lanvin dress paired with a sleek updo. Makeup artist Dawn Broussard emphasized her brows and brushed on a diffused smoky eye, then kept the lips simple with a drugstore diamond: Neutrogena's Moisture Stick in a gorgeous nude.

Continuing the sleek trend, the Girls actress did a deep side part (the most approachable way to wear this style—take note for prom). Makeup artist Lauren Andersen rimmed the eyes with an Avon black liner and kept her complexion ultra-matte, balancing it with a slightly glossy pinky-nude lip. It was a runway-ready beauty look fit for her Alexander McQueen frock.

<a href="/about/ariel-winter">Ariel Winter</a>
Super sleek, shiny hair with a center part was quite literally all over the Spring 2014 runways, and Modern Family's Ariel Winter must have been paying attention. Take it from her and pair the style with major lashes, but keep the lip simple.
