Amelia Gray Hamlin's Coachella 2018 Style Diary
On the ever-evolving list of Coachella fashion trends, there are a few constants: crochet, crop tops, and denim. Denim is almost as ubiquitous at the festival as palm trees. Revelers often anchor their outfits with cutoffs, jean jackets, cropped wideleg styles, and the rare denim jumpsuit. So, when model Amelia Gray Hamlin was planning her wardrobe for a weekend at Coachella in Palm Springs, she piled on the denim. "I love just wearing a big pair of baggy jeans," she explained. "I wore men’s [jeans] yesterday and I just like to pair that with a white top and some sneakers." She also experimented with a more controversial denim trend, pairing a Canadian tuxedo with white boots for a day lounging by the pool — and nailing it. "I think it’s so important to go with your own trends, and be comfortable and confident," she advises. "That’s the most important piece of style: confidence."
That philosophy is the driving force behind Amelia's decision to partner with Hudson Jeans for this year's festival. "I love this brand so much mainly because it goes against social norms, and what society says we should do." Going against social norms and being labeled as 'different' can be a lonely and isolating experience, and it's one Amelia says she can relate to. "I think just being able to love myself and accept my differences in this industry has really been a challenge because everyone is different," she reveals. "I overcame it with time and learning to love me for me." Ahead, she shares a style diary from her whirlwind weekend at Coachella, revealing her favorite festival trend, the one that she's officially over, and her advice for models trying to make it in the fashion industry.

Amelia Gray Hamlin: Probably a fanny pack and jeans. It’s just so easy and simple!

AGH: I think glitter and barely any clothes is kind of going out of style. Don’t get me wrong: it’s for sure a vibe though.

AGH: Be you! I think it’s so important to go with your own trends, and be comfortable and confident. That’s the most important piece of style: confidence.
